ACPO vs DFT

In a continuing dialogue with Avon and Somerset SCP about that camera in Batheaston I thought I had them cornered because the camera did not comply with the accident history in ACPO Code of Practice for Operational Use of Road Policing Enforcement Technology V2.1
which says under site selection:

"• a recognised KSI collision problem
• the causes of the KSI collisions, or a major factor in the severity of injury, must be illegal excess speed or red light running"

The SCP replied

"We operate under guidelines and policy from the Department for Transport in London and not ACPO codes of practise which gives guidance for Road Policing"

I trust you are going to pressure them for a copy of the guidelines

Which allows them to place 15% of camera's at locations without any accident history at all providing they "are in line with overall SCP strategy", in layman terms - the big revenue earning sites - batheaston being a prime example.
