Afternoon all.
Quick question - what are the sighting requirements for a camera - e.g. there must be a warning of it no more then 100 meters away, there must have been x fatalities in y years etc?

And where can I find out the information on a particular camera?

Thanks ....

Nearly all partnerships (sic) if not all, maintain web-sites.

So do a Google search on "Safety Camera Partnerships" and add your region in to find out.

they will have "guidelines" and then regularly change them to gain your £60. As they are guidelines and not "the law" as a motorist you are lighter in the pocket to the tune of 3 twenty pound notes

This

www.dft.gov.uk/stellent/groups/dft_rdsafety/documents/page/dft_rdsafety_025918.hcsp

is a very useful site. I am lead to believe that the guideline for accidents is five severe or fatal accidents on a stretch of road in three years, although here in Gwent one whiplash injury in six years seems to be enough to site a scamera.

They are only guidelines - if a scameraship think there is a problem with speeding they can place 15% of their cameras in these areas - and Talivans can go where they please. ie they use the sites (spelling!!!) where they can generate the most revenue.

"so or "thus" : inserted in brackets in a written or printed text to indicate that odd or questionable reading is in fact accurate - though in the case of these Scam web sites - would not hold my breath on that one!

(Cambs web site justified a talivan at certain site claiming that 188 deaths had occurred at that site on that particular day in March in past years 2000-2003. Since I had in fact driven on that road on that day to go to wedding anniversary bash on that particular March day and have done so for many years and never seen accident occur, nor been held up in aftermath - would thus doubt the "accuracy"!))

Did three double decker buses crash? Or an aircraft? 47 deaths on one particular day each year ... that surely justifies the road being closed on that day, not just a talivan! - Streaky

Whatever and wherever they want to put them. Guidelines arent gospel and so they mean *nothing* to em.
