Heres a quick quiz for the late shift;

Saw a vehicle today displaying the VRM "DAREN". When I got up close at the next set of lights I could not believe what the actual plate should have been. A years supply of for the correct answer.

Ted : best LMK whether I can reveal an actual reg number on here, but it was so obscure that no-one will guess in a zillion years

edited to avoid any more "Mikey G" moments - see post 3!

Well, let's see..."DAREN", huh...

"D" could be made from a D, o, 0, IX, Q, B, LX, P

"A" could be A, 4, Fi, F1, K, E, B, 8, 9, H

"R" could be R, B, E, A, 4, H, 8, 9, Fi, F1 - just like "A" above

"E" could be RBEA490F3H....

"EN" could be i3v or 13v, maybe CM

"N" could be iv, 1v, N, a really twisted B, H or Z

So, what was it?

I think it's about time they started issueing special plates like: "Dhead 1" or "Pratt 1".

I nearly bought one once though, and then came to my senses. I'm NOT a film star, Or TV star! And if I was a Millionaire I'd want to remain anonymous. After all, these days wouldn't you?

A cool plate which means something to everyone on an expensive car look good IMO.

A REALLY expensive plate on a Corsa does not.

How about a PP that means absolutely nothing to most people, but is a private joke amongst friends?

My little lad is called REEFE and I got R3EFE from DVLA for £250 so thats his 18th present sorted lol

The obvious ones would be:

D4REN or DAR3N, which have both been sold through DVLA auction in the last ten years if my memory serves me correctly.

Clearly in this case it will probably be D-REN with any number from 1 to 999.

What makes me laugh/groan/shout[*] is the use of the figure "2" as "R". Looks cr4p

Try D13 RFN and two fixing screws! Just goes to show all this nonsense about "if I make it say a word, the reg number is instantly recognisable" is complete crapola.
