I was coming up the A1 north of Newcastle yesterday with a colleague, when we clocked a Volvo V70 eastate flashing the car behind.
When she pulled over the Volvo then raced up behing us gave a flash of the head lights, then a couple of blue flashing lights lit up from behind the grill.
To cut the story short we clocked the guys reg and watched him tailgait and pull a few stupid overtakes, basically he was driving in an unprofessional manner if he was a real BiB.
Is there any point in reporting this to our local plod, i.e. will anybody do anything?
Can any of the BiB tell me if it was plod before reporting it?

1. If you have the registration and post it, one of us may have been able to tell you!
2. What you may have considered to be unprofessional, may well not be. Have you done an advanced course? Are you aware of the capablities of the particular driver in that car at that occasion?
3. Your perception of what is a stupid overtake may not be that of PSD department that looks into the matter, especially if the vehicle was trafpol/ some other department such as surveilance or other covert dept!
4. Report it anyway if it is getting under your skin.
I fear if they were on a job, then you may well be wasting your time
5. If they were not Police, the matter will be followed up.

Blimey Steve! Are you getting the shakes or something? You only need to press the 'Submit Reply' button once!
(Actually, I suspect you've been hitting 'refresh' on the confirmation page which rather unfortunately causes an extra post each time you do)

X-reg is several years old now. I would be surprised if it was a genuine police car, which are all shiny-new.
West Midlands Police still have many P and R reg patrol vehicles, and I am sure I even saw an M-reg T70 on the M42 a few months back, which nearly prompted me to ask on here what is the oldest in-service police vehicle on the roads today?

It's a piece of string question;
In my force we have patrol cars that are brand spanking new..we also have cars on patrol up which are Y Reg....
In addition to that..we have unmarked cars like the 'R' reg Range Rover and the 'R' reg Escort 16v in blue.
There are also older cars that no longer patrol, but are left in areas of high crime as a detterent, like motorway service areas which have been subject to vehicle crime.
Hope that makes it a little clearer...
