Anyone see the program on BBC1 about city centre policing in Cardiff last night ? What struck me was how patient the police were with all the drunken idiots, and also how inconsistent the sentencing was. The bloke who stamped on someones head and could have killed him, got off with a fine, and the bloke who kicked a car door, and then refused to come quietly got 5 months in prison. Madness.

Hi..

I didn't see it, but can imagine what it was like...
The police behind patient etc..has a lot to do with the cameras being there....

As for inconsistent sentencing...there is a lot of it, but also tv programs don't let you in on all the facts...The violent guy might have never been in trouble before and the criminal damage guy might have many previous convictions...

I didn't see the program, so I'm just speculating....

PS: I generally tell people twice...after that they get lifted.

as far as I were converend the police were far to polite. I would have liked to have seen more silence, chuck them in the van and move on, not spend 30 mins trying to convince a drunk to tell you his name.

I thought you had posted it twice as I wouldn't have believed it the first time!!!

As I say, I didn't see the program, but 30 mins talking to a drunk to persuade him to cough his name? The copper should be done for neglect of duty...Christ Almighty.....! If the drunk doens't give his name in the first minute, he's lifted...no iffs, no butts, that's it....

That type of fannying about gives the cops a bad name and encourages other scum to 'try it on'...

Ooooooo It's Friday night tonight and I'm working an unmarked car.......Scum catching...Mmmmm

Have to say that following my "incident of stupidness" on Wednesday night, the police who dealt with us were really patient too.

I was really drunk, and my friend definately over the limit, but apart from one guy the others were patient and calming.

I have no way of defending the stupidity of what we did, and totally hold up my hands and will take the punishment, but from one drunken dizzy mare to all you cops out there.

Thanks - I really will try not to get that drunk ever again.

Totally. Never felt so ashamed, stupid and totally bereft of all senses as I did yesterday morning. Even today 48hrs down line, still pondering utter ridiculousness of situation.

I used to watch those programs and think "how could anyone get that pi**ed" and here I am 34 and wearing the t.shirt!

IDIOT!!!

Street

there was one of those programs on recently where they ended up having aword with a compeltely hammered solicitor who was just a complete tw@t - and did all that "I know your boss" "You touch me you'll be sorry" etc..

how the cop he'd called every name under the sun didnt just lamp him I do not know....cos man you could see the desire to do so in his eyes!!
