This came, this morning with a wodge of paperwork.
My response, sent by email.
Is it because in this day and age its just easier to go fishing in the hope of easy 'no win no fee' money?

Look at the bit in bold; you can't deny that their service is exceptional , but possibly not in the way they intend... Their "renowned reputation" will surely follow as night follows day .My response, sent by email.
fesuvious email'd back and said:
Thank You for your letter etc dated 19/4/12.
Whilst we do love the way there is a blatant presumption that you are correct in your actions we unfortunately (for you) have to inform you that there are a few problems with your naive, inaccurate, incorrect and daft presumption.
Firstly, we do not own a vehicle with the registration BX05 VSE. A quick check with DVLA would have confirmed this for you, we can only presume that this proved too difficult for you. Perhaps you might consider better training for your staff?
A brief enquiry, perhaps using the quick, simple and relatively cheap (well, cheaper than your postage) means of email or phone would have revealed that we did not have any vehicles anywhere near Rugby on the day in question.
A 15 second search online shows that BX05 VSE is an articulated vehicle. A further 45 seconds on our website would have shown you quite clearly we do not operate such vehicles. Checking with VOSA would enable you to find the correct registered keeper, or more importantly the correct operator in double quick time.
Contained above, which is solely what my fuddled head devoid of caffeine can muster at this time is enough information to ensure you get your facts straight in future.
I find it stunning that a so called ‘leading firm of solicitors’ is incapable of getting basic facts straight. Surely just one of your ‘35 staff’ has enough education, capability or wits to advise somebody in a position of authority that the very basics of a successful claim are to get your facts straight from the off?
I fear for your future as a company.
We have a dedicated team of over 35 staff committed to building upon our renowned reputation of delivering an exceptional service with the emphasis on individual client care.
perhaps ‘......but who are incapable of checking basic facts’ should be tagged on to the end?
Do not contact my company again on this (non) issue. Any further contact will be considered harassment and dealt with as such.
In the meantime I wish you every success, eternal happiness and a constant supply of people who have slipped, tripped or fallen over and instead of blaming themselves for not looking where they were going decide that they need £1.4m in ‘compo’.
Does my head in. Why can't these people perform basic checks? How come they cannot just do the groundwork?Whilst we do love the way there is a blatant presumption that you are correct in your actions we unfortunately (for you) have to inform you that there are a few problems with your naive, inaccurate, incorrect and daft presumption.
