I have a pogo gps speed camera unit

through specs areas, it shows your average speed between each camera as well as the speed limit and your current speed

I get great satisfaction, if I've been slowed down by cars in front, to then speed up, over the limit, keeping an eye on my average, maximising my possible speed without triggering the camera. The GPS unit resets average speed at each camera point and actually shows the camera number e.g. 4th of 6, so if you miss a camera through being distracted or blocked from view by na HGV, you can still see the data

Childish but fun
You'll be a bit sick if an unmarked Police car has been watching you and pulls you over at the end of the roadworks. smile

No front number plate, never stays stuck long enough after the MOT for some reason. ;-)

Though garage I take it to each year didn't even bother sticking it to the car this year.
Still passed.

do you need to go through two camera's to trigger them? i ask as i routinely drive past one camera before pulling off the motorway, and always slow down. i've never had the guts to charge past and see what happens...

It did occur to me as I was proofing this piece so I looked it up and it's not gender specific! Though, like you, I thought it was. If you want to be, er, no I won't say what I was going to say as that would just cause further anatomical confusion ... what I should say is if you want to be pedantic and look a little further down the page in the dictionary you get:

mons veneris: the mons pubis of a woman or girl

So there you go!

Isn't the 10% + 2mph think just a guideline? Also, isn't the 10% already allowing for any speedo inaccuracy? They can "get you" for 51mph in a 50 if they want.
Yes. I've just had a NIP for 35 in a 30.

I can see why the confusion - there's some iffy websites out there and I'm not sure I should divert this thread!

Sorry had to be pedantic I'm a doctor and you threw me! Gray's anatomy is *the* original anatomical text...

Yes you can get done for speeding through the specs.

I always used to stick somewhere between 50 and 70 going through and didn't get done but one day there was an accident on the M1 at Jct 12 and as I got passed it the road was empty and I was late for work and booted it a bit and probably averaged 70 - 75 on the speed for a few cameras then thought actually I should slow down a bit! Was too late 3 days later I got a NIP in the post for doing 67mph in a 50.

I got caught fair and sqaure and it was my first 3 points, I won't deny that I occasionally speed I just wish I had got done for doing more than 70 as the road would normally be a 70 limit!!!

So now when driving through them which I do everyday I stick somewhere between 50 and 52 which the cruise control on and thats a GPS verified speed which is about 55 on the speedo.

I just tend to sit at 50mpg on the Pogo GPS thoroughout the SPECS area, winding up the bellends in their Audi Tdi's behind me, then drop a couple of cogs and absolutely hoof it as soon as the final camera is overhead.

Childish, but amusing.
Your Pogo calculates your fuel consumption ?

I had just been looking at their website, and they do not mention this capability.

I set the speed limiter on my Mercedes to 57mph and go through at that speed. I have not received any NIPs.

My brother received a NIP for 58 in a SPECS.

The camera zone appears to be within 100m of the camera, although it is difficult to tell. I think you can "hide" your plate down the side of a lorry if you're careful, but there is not always a lorry around when you need it.

Not all cameras are active and some active sectors may contain several "off" cameras.

The number of people who whizz through with impunity leads me to think that they know for sure the cameras are off. It looks to be the case that some parts of the SPECS system on the A1 north of Dishforth were inoperative, simply because the cameras were in the wrong place or there was no obvious route for data and power feeds.

My Ex GF... maybe this is one for the stupid things women say thread.

She understood that they measured your average speed.

Although she thought they measured your speed at each camera, and averaged it - so she would speed up, and slow down at the camera!
Brilliant !
laugh I suspect she is not the only one.
I am tormented by these things most weeks and am still amazed at how many people scream up the each camera and slow down as they go past rolleyes
I usually stick the cruise on at 54 mph and weirdly I end up overtaking people who them come screaming past at after the next camera
The ones on the M5 west of Brum set at 40 MPH did my head in frown
