Jumping back a few topics.. I don't mis-use my front fog lights, I just leave them on all the time

Seriously, I have noticed twice recently the police standing hidden behind the concrete pillars on the dual carriageways poking the speed gun around the side and they had a car tucked away out of sight a bit further up.

I guess there are no rules for policing the speeding on public roads which I guess is fair enough.

My ex was caught speeding in my car one morning on her way to work. She was in a 60 limit and this reduced as you came down a hill into this village (still on a main A road) and there was a lane at one side just on the 30mph sign and the Bib were stood in the end of the lane there for an hour picking off nearly every motorist one after one as they passed the end of teh lane as it changed to 30. They weren't stopping any offenders as the road was too narrow and busy, so I eventually got the fine in the post. They must have got hundreds (or more) during that hour.

Again, fair enough I suppose. But it can be difficult to safely halve your speed when in traffic when everyone is moving you along at a similar speed.

I wasn't the offender as I wasn't driving but it could have easily been me had I been driving my car at the time.

Yes it can be difficult, and if you do, of course you will cause a wave effect back down the queue, such that the cars at the back may come to a standstill or make contact.

But as we and the millions of motorists with fines and points must know by now, safety is clearly not the number one priority...any more than reducing congestion is number one priority for Livingstone.
