A good point above...does a law exist requiring twoccers and similar to pay for damages caused by their actions while breaking the law?
Need to be careful, though, because the same could be extended to an otherwise law abiding motorist breaking the speed-limit and then being involved in an RTA...insurance get-out?
[Note - in my example, if the driver was massively over the limit, e.g. banning levels, he deserves what he gets. But for someone just "making good progress" in good conditions, discretion is required. Unfortunately, where motorists are concerned the law seems very black-and-white at the moment. Unlike the real world.]

So is that two more excessive speed accidents then?
Shall we put up a speed camera to prevent it happening again?

Personally I approved of those devices the Finnish police tested for pursuits..........
A sodding great harpoon, fire into rear of target vehicle, apply brakes, get cuffs ready.
Hope you're joking FiF; the Finn's are utterly mental, it's why they make such outstanding rally drivers!!!

Your hope is not misplaced.
edited to say:
Reading it again realise I could have misunderstood your question Iolaire.
I was generally joking about the device being suitable, but I'm not joking when I say the Finns actually tried one. Bit like a small whaling harpoon...... seriously!

I appreciate that you think I'm gong on and on and on...
But if you spent as long as I do examining accident stats of one sort or another you would appreciate the frustration that results from road safety conclusions based on totally misleading evidence.
I really do expect that this scrote will be recorded as as at least one excessive speed accident, and that in due course that record will be used to support a failing policy.
How are we supposed to improve road safety with this sort of crap in the data? This crash wasn't a road safety problem, it was a criminal problem.

The accident happened in Oldham. You can buy a house there for £6.50 Two american soldiers on leave in Oldham, one says "Jees the Krauts really bombed this place in the Blitz", trouble is it was only 3 weeks ago.

Hiya.
I don't think you're going on and on and actually find your posts informative and pleasant to read. I'm glad you didn't take offence at my sleepy smilie. I just find the 'lets put a camera' quote tiresome.
I agree that criminal actions shouldn't warrant speed cameras, but standard collisions should.

We could say the same about the SCP's constant ramblings...

Might that not be a bit of pain in the ass for any back seat passengers, who might, after all be relatively innocent?
Best wishes all,
Dave.
What happened to the "Stinger with bells on" device that I saw tested in the not too distant past? This was a sort of webbing net with nails in it, and it stopped virtually anything that went over it, from cars to 40 tonners. Drive over it, the nails puncture/ grab the tyres, and the webbing wraps itself around the wheels and axles. Wheels can't rotate, vehicle stops...........dead. No more images of scrotes continuing to drive with four flat tyres, losing control and crashing into the nearest primary school playground. With this device, they'll be lucky to go another twenty feet!
Come on you BiB's, get on to your senior officers and DEMAND this device.
