Lets try and clear this misconception up that
no MOT = No insurance.

Look at Section 148 (2) (b) Road Traffic Act 1988 which states that where a Certificate of Insurance has been issued then the condition of the vehicle shall have no effect in relation to avoidance of the risk.

So, as I understand it, in the event of an accident then Insurers have to pay out a Third party claim but may, if there were defects in the vehicle involved, come back on the owner to recover monies in a civil action.

Mark states that his vehicle complies with all rules and regulations but doesn't have a bit of paper, that can come invalid minutes after issue, so is unlikely to face civil action.

We only have his word for the condition of the bike and unless he is a Ministry of Transport appointed tester then his opinion on that counts for NOTHING. The insurance WILL go to town regarding this issue because it means they get their money back plus costs.
Most people on this forum start screaming hissteracly(sp?) the moment someone has an accident without mot etc. Why because he is a member should the tac change and turn into "Yeah do it you'll be alright!" What he is proposing to do is ILLEGAL not grey area, not legal but ILLEGAL. Has anyone actually got the point yet?

God forbid if he did it and through no fault of his own was involved in a crash where someone was either seriously injured or killed. Do you think theses little bits of paper wouldn't matter then? Do you not believe the insurance companies wouldn't come for their pound of flesh? Do you even remotely think the police are going to listen to the pathetic I've booked it in excuses being used? NO he would got his backside well and trully shafted, and possibly wind up in financial ruin for the rest of his life.

DO YOUR SELF A FAVOUR MATE AND RENT A VAN. IT WILL PROBABLY ONLY COST YOU AROUND THE £100 MARK AND SAVE MASSES OF POTENTIAL HASSLE. (damn sight more comfortable if it rains aswell )

Enterprise car rental have an office on queens dock in liverpool (that's if your landing there that is) they rent out Transit sized vans for £33.99 per day. You could either deliver your bike and take it back or go oneway and drop off at your local office, which i presume would carry a surcharge so hence the £100 I mentioned before. But that would include fuel etc. There's probably more if you look for them.
