Speed, Plod and Law or UK Policing in 2004????
Discussion
Recently...the 'bash the BiB' seems to have taken on epidemic proportions by certain members on here....who have forgotten the principles set out by Petrol Ted.
The BiB inclusion on this forum is to facilitate the flow of information regarding Road Traffic laws, current procedures and police practises in modern Road Policing.
Discussing police response times to burglaries or bleats about.."Where were the police there when my apples were stolen?" are pointless, fruitless (in the case of the apples) and boring.
This is a motoring forum and this particular section about the policing in relation to motorists.
The trend of pointless whining only seems to affect a handful of people, but the others, including me, get dragged into it also.
It makes for a boring read, a bitter set of responses and IMHO devalues the normal good debate that we have on here.

Street

Ach! Liebchen - getting to you - but we read reports in the papers - so we include what we read to give you opportunity to put record straight.
The TVP thread - for example - we have sanction of Census in a rush hour. We get from your mob -"What does a delay matter - you get them anyway when poorly twazak closes a motorway for a day when he mangles himself and some one else."
The difference is in accident (which we would also wish to prevent) and a hold up caused by a daft decision on part of self important twit in an office which happened to be sanctioned by equally senseless pen pushing no idea of real "plodding" pretzel on a "me and my upwards career" scheme....
And any delays on our roads - whether accident or deliberate impacts on the economy. So - a stupid decision on part of your boss does indeed affect you as much as it affects people who choose not to join professions mit a uniform.
As for the pop at Armed Response units - well in days of increased possibility of terrorist attack - we need to know you can cope. Does not inspire much confidence when you cannot respond adequately to a cash and grab at the Post office in Bury. Admittedly - GMP lost two officers to my knowledge in seriously deadly situations, and there was the truly terrible event in Leeds last Christmas. So - can appreciate need for caution and duty of care to you at work - but we need to know what lessons are being learned here by your bosses, and how well we get protected by you if and when we need you!
Incidentally - medicos like my husband and toppest biochemists will be in forefront of biochemical attack and you will have to obey HIS orders if that should occur - und his white coat and natty protective gear will take precedence over blue serge in that kind of event!

I'm very sorry to say that there's a very good reason, and it's very closely connected to the subject matter of this forum.
Misapplication of motoring laws is building up a great deal of resentment against the Police - you should see some of the emails I get.
This is a very serious problem indeed - we know it's entirely outside of your control... in fact you are one of the victims of a bad policy.
I recommend that you join us in calling for fair and just application of motoring laws before irrepairable damage is done to the Police / public relationship. Indeed, it may already be too late.
We've suffered worse, but it's a useful reminder that I'd still like people to be civil here.
Balance is required on both sides of the fence.
As for content, I've absolutely no objection to general matters of law being discussed here provided it's done constructively.
So, enough navel gazing - let's get back to talking about law related matters in a sensible and adult manner.
'nuff said.
