just tick the "just for show" box and there are dozens of places that will do them for you. I got a set of euro ones, charles wright correctly spaced fonts etc, no postcode stuff etc etc. Tenner.

Yes I know that but there illegal as they don't containing the required information including who made them, kite mark, inside leg measurement.

Remember its a company car, providing am a good boy they pick up the tab but if the reg is revoked because i keep driving on invalid plates I get the bill. Plus from the posts above invalid plates are times to worse than no plates.

So ask fancyplates to include the required info. Job done.

The above font (and many other similar ones) are offered by the company...

yet they claim

All plates and reflective materials we supply meet the requirements of BSAU 145d, however for our Standard UK plate customers, Fancy Plates guarantees peace of mind in that all plates ordered through this constructor are suitable for use on UK public roads and will pass any MOT/PSV tests.

Don't think so...

Bet they do though Streetcop.

I had Irish plates with my UK reg number on my car and it went straight through the MOT. Grease monkey actually commented on the plates and said how different they were and how much he liked them. fair enough I did have a yellow background on the rear plate as opposed to the standard Irish white front and rear. But they had the county above the numbers in gaelic, the Irish EU symbol on the left and the letter spacing and size was all different to the standard UK spec.

Must admit...the MOT testing stations can be slack at times...

Which makes it all the more satisfying when the ministry takes there licence off them..

I think the phrase 'suitable for use on UK roads' was the one I was also interested in..

Interestingly SC, Fancyplates are based in Fermanagh in Norn Iron so the V5/ID/Inside leg measurement doesn't apply. Also, all NI MOT testing stations are Govt run (no popping into your local garage) so if they're passing them over there, who's to argue?

Be a bit tricky removing the testing station licence issued by the DoE from the DoE!!

Read it again: however for our Standard UK plate customers, ie. standard UK plates, not the one pictured above.

The number plate supplier legislation only applies to England, so Scottish/Welsh/NI companies can supply illegal plates and don't need to record purchases.

Whats the damage for being caught without a front number plate?

Had the new company car 5 days and the front plate has gone missing

1) Dealer says need to speak to lease company
2) Lease company says speak to local dealer
3) Local dealer says too much hassle now with paper work don't do replacement
4) Halfords will but want documents as long as your arm including V5 and Photo ID
5) Can't explain why photo ID when the car is a company car and the insurance in the company name - there is nothing on any official form that links the car to me so why prove who i am?
6) Lease company doesn't have V5 as DVLA don't issue for several weeks
7) No problem says Halfords - chassis number will do
8) Lease company doesn't have that either as dealer hasn't supplied the paperwork yet.

In the meantime I am not walking and don't care for Blunkett's vision of Stassi GB so carry on driving.

I regularly see a nice modern looking Merc with no front number plate. Been that way for months: just a black rectangle and a nice blonde lady driver.
