Should I have stopped ?

Venison IS nice though..... Maybe you should have slung it in the boot.....
Reminds me of a story a colleague had when working in the control room.
Chap rings up very concerned about the deer that he hit with the car, wasn't dead, but not happy and unlikely to survive.
Colleague informed the RSPCA, who couldn't attend, and a vet would be at least an hour and a half. The aforementioned chap was pretty distraught and obviously not a rufty tufty outdoors type.
Traffic was building up, and a few minutes later a builder type said he could help, a couple of minutes and dull thump later, had dispatched bambi to the great upstairs with a scaffolding pole.
Apparently Bambi was so badly injured that it was by far the most humane thing to do. Certainly got the traffic moving again.

I was driving down one of the country roads near my home and came across a deer in the middle of the road with at least two broken legs desperately trying to get up. Someone had hit it and driven off, leaving it there. Another car stopped as well, and had a sufficiently heavy wheel brace to do the decent thing. Horrible start to a Saturday night out . Still, when we dragged it to the side of the road at least I managed to avoid getting any blood on my shirt .
