Agreed, I cant imagine any of my fk ups at work getting me into the papers.
Have the public put a great deal of trust in you to provide an important service to them, and are you being paid for the service from the public purse? If no, then it's irrelevant whether your incompetence is widely publicised or not.

If that's true that's unbelievably stupid. Why risk all that for silliness like that? If it's true?
I doubt it will be due to sillyness - if the allegations are true.If that's true that's unbelievably stupid. Why risk all that for silliness like that? If it's true?
More likely breathtaking arrogance and contempt for the rules.

it's also from the place for those who dislike the UK to Putin the nasty pieces , RT ...
1. Reportedly PCC Sue Mountstevens told Chief Constable Nick Gargan the name of his female colleague that made a complaint about his conduct.2. The Misconduct hearing could have been held in public. If it had been held in public it could have been reported and then perhaps covered by a reputable news outlet that can be trusted to tell the truth and people would possibly be better informed and better able to make their own mind up.
3. British newspapers and media outlet carry 'news' items generated by the police.
4. RT may be nasty pieces, but West Midlands police, reportedly the second largest police client of Common Purpose after the Met, got this very wrong:

I guess he may not be attending Harrogate this week?
I have heard some fairly unsavoury stories, but I shall keep them to myself at the moment.I guess he may not be attending Harrogate this week?
So basically all the matters involving women are irrelevant as they are all unproven and the misconduct matters all relate to relatively minor data breaches. Although the article only lists 7 findings when there are 8, so I am assuming the 8th is also a data breach.
Either way, he should still retire as he has little to no credibility now.

The 8th relates to 'intimate images' on his official police phone! Either way, he should still retire as he has little to no credibility now.
