no both the ones on the right are too a private residence, a farm. the first one is just tractors and the second is for the private vehicles at the farm. the turn on the left is so emergency vehicles can access the airfield in the even of a crash/fire on the runway again not a road to anywhere
Why does that stop vehicles turning into them? Or more importantly why do you believe it means they can't turn into them?vonhosen said:
Could he physically turn into it from his position & speed?
If so it's an option available to him, so beware passing.
What is the outcome you are hoping for from all this?
yes he slowed rapidly moved across at the same time before the first turning. from what the police said in my interview they were doing a u-turn as had gone the wrong way.If so it's an option available to him, so beware passing.
What is the outcome you are hoping for from all this?

that wasnt actually aimed at you but where did you get 5 from?!
In that short stretch you've got the main gate, a bus stop, crash gate and 3x clustered turnings. It's danger zone central when it comes to overtaking.Glad you're OK'ish, but it was a very bad spot to attempt a pass.smiffyraf1 said:

That doesn't matter, you don't know who he is or his reasoning for doing it. What matters is from his position & speed was it physically possible for him to get into an option that was available to him? He could have been looking for the private residence, the farm, a junction to turn around in etc etc. All make the turning a viable option for him. You need to think defensively, the option is there & it's physically possible for him to take it, until he demonstrates that he clearly isn't as it's no longer possible. If he was thinking of turning, the position on the road where you are saying the collision took place is entirely reasonable for him to start moving position. it doesnt but both of these have closed gates over the end of them (you cant see it on the second one as i assume its an old picture.) but i can count using the amount of fingers i have had inside your mum the times i have seen vehicles emerging or entering them within the 8 years i have lived there. (thats 0 by the way, you mum prefers my cock )

its not a turn you complete tard. its a private residence. its not a public road. how are your obs?!
How did you know that the car in front didn't actually live up the private road and may be turning? As an experienced rider I would also say bad place to overtake. Your the one in the hospital and you call him a tard.
This is obviously not going the way you expected Op, but I would consider yourself lucky to be offered a course. Not an insurance expert but think you may be apportioned a large percentage of blame here also.

Again, the negative outcomes you've seen previously have no bearing on the potential adversity before you at that time, evidenced by the fact one vehicle ahead of you did go to use it this time. smiffyraf1 said:

I think this is the problem, you've spent 2 or 3 seconds a day passing these entrances and think they are not used, but actually they are well maintained and likely in constant use.smiffyraf1 said:
well sure but ive never seen a meteorite strike the road in front of me causing a huge crater but then i don't ride in preparation for one.
That's not reasonable to expect, but an option ahead that is physically available to a vehicle (from it's current position & speed) is reasonable to expect.Again, what is the outcome you are expecting/hoping for from all this?

also there are no public road signs to indicate a turning approaching.
You're right, no public road signs at all - apart from; the throw back arrow indicating that there is a change in centre line markings ahead, the warning sign for agricultural vehicles plated "Farm Vehicles Turning", the chevrons, one of the purposes of which from the highway code is to "protect traffic turning right", the dedicated right turn lane with lane dictation arrows indicating right turns. If only you were a regular user of the road you would have been aware of the turning, oh wait...

There's one visible in your first link!I don't usually add to threads like this but it's amazing to lurk and see how the true story often unfolds.
Your initial description of a "hatched area" makes it sound like a harmless wide road that's not quite wide enough for multiple lanes, so they put hatchings in the middle that can often be safe to overtake on.
What we actually see in the street view is a feeder hatching widening the road for a clearly marked turning lane, with visible entrances all over the shop, another turning lane for opposing traffic, and a whopping great sign saying Farm Vehicles Turning.
Take the course and run!
Edit: Beaten to it
