"It would then be down to a judge to decide if the parody is funny."

I do hope this has been codified by Germans.

Looks like a good move.

Judges are generally well read. Parody is not a new concept.

Do they have to personality find it funny? No.

This is the media trying to make it more of a story, the judge will not have to decide if it is funny, they will have to decide if it is an expression of humour or mockery, makes no difference if they find it funny, they just need to believe that it was intended to be.

In this case they do seem to be getting rid of rules though.

I doubt that he has read the (sensible) new rules. That sounds like a kneejerk reaction to anything originating from the EU.

Why would it wind up Nigel Farage? He's probably glad that the EU are doing something sensible at last biggrin

I think the point that most people seem to be missing is the part where it states a parody; "conveys a discriminatory message" which to me would mean that most parodies would not fail under this law, the only sticking point would be the definition of discrimination.....

And there was me thinking that he was responding to my post about this not being an EU-bashing thread.

Who ought to get the parrot? (I understand there's a few dead stuffed ones hanging around in local Nicks that they cant use any more wink )
