you could lick the branston pickle off the end of a sharp knife and get away with it a few times.

But why take the risk just to save a few quid. Just buy a spoon smile

Quite.

Of course there are always those that will claim it's a ruse by the tyre manufacturers to sell more tyres. Or reference industrial truck tyres (that do get side wall repairs) or state they've done it and been driving fine for 1,000,000 miles since.... etc etc

Bottom line, whilst you CAN physically repair a sidewall no-one who takes their driving and safety seriously would do so just to save a few quid, legal or not.

At least you can really take your time in deciding what you want to do - after all, with damaged sidewalls, there's no pressure...

Now that the Nankang Massacre is over, can we get back to normal business? All that stabbing has made me ill...

It's happened again. All four tyres on our family car, a VW Caravelle done last night while we were in the evening service.

All the other vehicles in the car park were left alone. I've informed the police.

I know a little about sidewalls actually chap.

I know I wouldn't let a member of my family drive with a repair in one. I know I wouldn't recommend to someone one on a forum to even consider it, and I know that people come here as a source of reliable reference info so I don't think your post is very well judged.

Yeah.

Exactly. You know a little about sidewalls. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Whereas I spent 25 years in the tyre industry, many of them developing repair materials and methods with the major manufacturers and played a big part in the re writing of the current BS on tyre repairs.

All you need to do is seek out the standard and read it.

Time for some CCTV by the sounds of it...

You'll probably find it's the sweet old lady who tends the flowers or something.

Sorry to hear that. CCTV system will pay for itself in the long term.

It is recommended that your new tyres have a pressure of 30Bar FYI.

Sorry to hear this OP. Must be getting really expensive.

Did you report it to the police 1st time round? The person doing this obviously sees when you are coming and going and a a visible visit from the police first time round MAY have prevented this second occurrence.

Blimey! You'd almost be forgiven for thinking someone up there doesn't like you.

I heard of a similar thing on another (American) forum.

Chap moves in to nice residential area about 3 months ahead of his family for a new job. While he's waiting for the family to arrive (they're staying to finish the school year + exams etc. in old place)he discovers a colleague is looking for a temporary place while his purchase of a flat goes through.

So, male colleague moves in for a couple of months. Outwardly nice old lady across the road gets the wrong idea, and starts vandalising their cars, spray painting "God hates fags" etc. on them and the house. They couldn't believe it when they got the CCTV footage back.

Indeed.

As it's time for winter tyres now, it's the right time to go Nokian on people's doors, if they Avon't already.
