Maybe you should have pulled him over and rammed a fistful of Gold Blend into his mouth?
Certainly would have been my inclination...

funny I was driving down the A40 this morning (Lane3)following a mondeo and it kept hitting the brakes. Several cars had passed on the inside and I flashed the modeo that had just hit the breaks again. After a little while I decided to move over and pass slowly on the inside (not a normal stunt for me) as I got along side there was a lady driving and she had a road angel stuck to the dash! I guess it was a new toy....

Many similar experiences... The best trick is to throw them a dummy and blast past. Leave them to their own sad existence

Just 20 mins ago on my way back home I encountered one of these morons.
Let me point out that in areas where speed limits are there for a reason and make sense I adhere to them (havent had a ticket in 3 yrs - touchwood!) but where they are there for the sheer sake of it, or for cash generating purposes I drive to the road ( and brake for speed cameras )

There is a wide section of dual carriageway on my way home, its about 4 miles long and has a posted limit of 30 or 40 mph. I usually drive it at 45-50, as do around 50% of the people using it.

Today I was in a long procession of cars (around 7) making progress down this road at about 50mph. Pugrot 406 in the inside lane sees 2 cars flash by him, and as I approached his rear 3/4 he switched lanes very quickly & without indication, and then promptly sat there doing 39mph!

What is it with these morons? He nearly caused a bad rta just so he can feel better about making others drive to the idiotic speed limit.

When I eventually passed him I got the usual flash of headlights and coffee beans, suffice to say I returned the favour and made good my escape.

Anyone else had similar experiences?

This the only time I pull over and have words, not every time but often. I make my words heard very clearly and do my best to adjust the individuals attitude. We must all do our bit.

I find this all very puzzling.

When a local councillor in my neck o' the woods proposed this a few years ago, I had a letter published in the local rag in which I suggested said civvies might be attacked by angry drivers.

Very quickly, local police reported they were not going to support the idea......

If the busybodies get attacked, will they sue the police for putting them in the firing line without pointing out the hazard....?

yeah - its a bad road for this behaviour. i sometimes encounter cats doing just 40. do they not understand its a 70 limit?
i used to try my best and be polite but to no apparent avail.
now its simply a case of taking the path of least resistance, whichever lane that might be.

About half the drivers in Pennsylvania like to do this. The method that I found works best is to build up speed and pass them so fast that they can't see it coming. That prevents them from doing anything stupid. I will also do this on rural roads where the speed limit is unenforced, and only about half of what the safe speed is, i.e. I will start from relatively far behind them and then, if conditions permit, pass them at about twice the speed they're going. In that case, it prevents them from speeding up as I try to pass.

But yes, I have made it a point not to carry a firearm in my vehicle because people like these vigilante speed limit enforcers make me want to ram them off the road and shoot them in the face.
