Hello

I had a court summon for the case of using a hand-held mobile phone while driving.

The court case was on 15th April which I missed and not sure what to do now. I was accused of using the satnav on my iphone by a marked policeman on a motorbike - I was "using" my phone although was not using the satnav.

Regardless its the missing of the court case im worried about, what would be my best course of action from here ?

Thanks

First thing to do is contact the court.

Unless I'm getting confused, it might all have been settled in your absence and you might find out there is a fine waiting for you.

It took you 3 weeks to realise you had missed it ?

Whether you were using the nav or not, you've committed the offence anyway.

I thought using a handheld device whilst driving was dealt with via an FPN?

Did you refuse the FPN at the time and this has resulted in a summons and you've decided not to go?

Outcome is likely to be much worse than the FPN would have been if you were offered one.

A bit of a pointless post there as the horse or rather unicorn has bolted...

He has already been found guilty and he has a fine to pay for sure perhaps even a few points so the insurance company can cash in too.

All in all an expensive day to miss...

If he's been served with a summons and subsequently failed to appear, won't a warrant for his arrest have been issued?

This thread makes no sense.
I was "using" my phone although was not using the satnav
That is the offence, using the sat nav is usually what people try as defence, is that supposed to be your defence or admission of the offence

They're asking for info about missing the court date, not disputing the charge.

If he wasn't disputing the charge, he'd have accepted the FPN and paid it months ago.

Can you get it in writing? Perhaps attend the court.
