OP, I really hope this didn't happen. You'll be posting up about the Section 172 request you may well receive in the next few eeeks mentioning failing to stop at the scene of an accident, failure to exchange details etc next . The drone behind the desk should have recorded the incident and given you a log no. as evidence you'd reported the incident - without this and if the desk drone denies your visit... Although they won't prosecute (they generally don't, nowadays), you have no defence (ie the log no. from your reporting the incidemt) if they do prosecute. so i phoned 101 and they said go into the local station and report it.

hmm now i'm a bit worried again, it was a lady police person i spoke to, wasn't just a civilian drone person, she was a full on copper. my wife was there as well so we would both be saying that we reported it. i do have her badge number (is that right?) and she said it was fairly pointless as the other woman left first, so she left without giving details. to be honest i was just relieved that she (wpc) said i'd done the right thing.You were extremely badly advised by the desk drone.

considering the police station in our town is closed as such, she would probably end up at the same station as me anyway.
i'll sit tight for now, i certainly don't want to worry the wife, she is not looking forward to the flights next week (hates flying hugely) and after being told it was ok, it would make her worry.
i'll have to get the daughter to open my mail in case something comes through. i wish i could email info and responses back and forward.
the insurance company know I have reported it as well, and they have a record of me warning them so i'll see what happens.

thanks, to be honest, when she carried on and there were no brake lights etc, i thought she must have just had hers banged in and it was mine broken and she was just going to carry on. I didn't even see her drive into the car park, mind i was trying to clip my mirror back in without killing my optional extra land rover spider i didn't say to the woman at the time it was my fault as i am under the impression that can cause the insurance company problems if something comes to light etc.
i'll pay the increased premiums and also ask to protect them from now on in, can't believe i've been that daft, paid it for the others and not my own, doh!
all in all it's an odd week, i knew my luck wouldn't last, i got a tax rebate, so i should have realised something crap was going to happen

Explain to me how that wobble theory of yours works in real life. Insurer pays out 50% of the cost, let's say £250 for a new mirror and loads OPs premium by say £50. It'll take them 5 years to recoup it, but the £50 extra will reduce as the accident becomes more historic. Also, if the OP goes to another insurer tharen Admiral are just £250 out of pocket.

I was hit earlier this year - other driver admitted it and the claim was dealt with by her insurer via Mazda Assistance .
I tried using the meerkat, both not declaring it and correctly declaring it as a third party fault accident with costs recovered. Several insurers quoted a lower price with the claim declared.

Do you really work for the Admiral group, ELI or whatever it's called, as suggested by your posts often mentioning said ins co?Insurer pays out 50% of the cost, let's say £250 for a new mirror and loads OPs premium by say £50. It'll take them 5 years to recoup it, but the £50 extra will reduce as the accident becomes more historic. Also, if the OP goes to another insurer tharen Admiral are just £250 out of pocket.

Back on topic: yes as suggested she is most likely a gyspie wizard pie key lizard. Maybe consult David Icke for further advice on how to deal with these masonic, autistic, audi driving, freepeople-on-the-land?

Unless she's already got a high premium, and (rightly or wrongly) is concerned about it being bumped up for a non-fault claim, there does seem like something is a bit fishy here.
Let's be honest, a Q7 wing mirror isn't going to be peanuts is it; on top of it being absurdly expensive as it probably has all sorts of sensors, LED indicatoms, electrochromatic glass for the mirrors, loads of LED puddle lights and a folding mechanism it also would need painting and fitting etc plus the tt tax for being both an Audi and a pointlessly large SUV and most likely white. I'd expect it'll be closer to £1000 than £500. Could be wrong though but all the German cars I've owned have cost a bomb for parts.
Still, at those sort of costs she should be more eager in chasing your ins co and police unless she's either uninsured, wanted or was up to something she shouldn't have been (legal or not).

sorry for the thread resurrection, but i just wanted to update things.
i went on holiday on the 13th july, and whilst i was away I got 2 emails from my insurance company 1 saying they had not heard from the 3rd party and the 2nd saying they had decided to close the claim and it would not affect my ncb.
so i'm not sure what was up with her position, i wonder if she was waiting for me to offer cash or to pay myself and got worried when i was saying i wanted to use the insurance companies.

I had a chap back into me in a car park a few years ago, his fault I was stationary all very amicable no damage to my Audi a nasty dent in his people carrier, ah well he said my own fault apologies, I'll get it sorted we'll say no more. Home I went phoned my insurers insisted the record it job done.
Roll forward 6 months, letter through the post saying I'd backed into this blokes car just a few days previous and left the scene. I reminded my insurers of my earlier declaration they sounded very pleased and I heard no more. I. Guessing it didn't end well for bloke in the people carrier.
So my advice is trust no-one and tell your insurer.
