Is there special provision on road law for bike races?

But they do have more right.
I think they are second to walkers, though, so if you wanted to be a pain for them you could walk in front of them?
Yep, pretty much.I think they are second to walkers, though, so if you wanted to be a pain for them you could walk in front of them?
Cars can cause more damage to a cyclist than the cyclist can to them so there is more expectation for the driver to be careful when approaching cyclists.
Likewise with cyclists vs pedestrians, cyclists should be more careful when approaching pedestrians.

I have wondered about cyclists "racing" too on public roads.
They certainly don't give much consideration to other road users when in large groups, and some act dangerously.
I have dash cam footage showing this! (excuse the swearing from my better half!!) http://youtu.be/dK57DP3Pa-E

I think those couple of guys just messed up. As a cyclist in their position you can normally see what is coming from quite a way back and they must have missed you, did you pull out the carpark?
I appreciate they shouldn't cut the corner, but if there is nothing coming then you want to get off the main road as soon as possible. There is nothing worse than being sat in the middle of that road waiting to turn.

In this example, I think one has to say that a couple of morons, who happened to be riding bicycles at the time, caused problems for other people and made cyclists in general look bad. A bit like what some drivers occasionally will do!

Was this on a Saturday morning per chance? If so, it's the tri ride. I'll send it to the regulars.

In the case of that video, the cyclists who cut the corner had the "protection" of many other cyclists around and behind them.
Thats very nice of the other cyclists to have provided that for them. But not seemingly protection from the dashcam car?But another concern on behalf of the motorist is that; was the law recently changed to make it an automatic stance that the motorist is to blame if there is an injury cause between car and cyclist? With the burden of proof required to show that the cyclist was in the wrong rather that what would often be a "knock for knock" case if it were car vs car ?
(I stand to be corrected of course)

I would agree only one or two let the group down, they cut the corner too avoid waiting for the car, that can be seen taking their right of way at 8 seconds along the main road.
Hopefully the cyclists are not so engrossed in making progress that they missed a bright red car coming towards them!
Remember also that 2 side by side is recommended!
