Mild insurance based rant!
Discussion
Last years insurance:
Golf GTD, 6 years ncd, 2 non fault claims, 18k a year SDP + small business allowance, work in IT and lived at home with folks. Cost was 534
This year, same situ, now with 7 years ncd except I'm now living with the Mrs a mile down the road (virtually same postcode) and the cheapest I can find is 660 odd quid!
Theres no point to this just a little narked.

You're living with the missus, therefore a higher risk of losing everything, so they are milking you while they can.
True! Thing is the cheapest quote is a company called 1st central who I've never heard of! The next cheapest is about 150 quid more.
Can get it for around 600 but need to have a black box fitted :/

Man doing slightly above average mileage, driving a slightly above average performance car, in slightly above average car insurance quote shocker
It's more the big jump, If it stayed around the same I could live with that (around the 500 mark) but other than that one quote of 660 most have been in the 800s.Also don't think putting in my folks address will look too good if I crash as I am quite obviously not living there any more.
My insurance is with 1st central. 3 out of the last 4 years I think. They were cheapest by a good margin and I was a bit skeptical initially but the price difference was to good to ignore.
Have had the misfortune of making 2 claims with them but they were spot on, dealt with everything well and was all resolved quickly.
Goes to show, cheap doesn't always mean dodgy!

You could try calling a broker rather than online portal?
Saffron have been good for me.
Or try a VW specialist like https://www.hertsinsurance.com/our-policies/
No experience with them, but worth a shot.

Did a direct quote with that 1st central and got it to 662 with the mrs on (she will probably never drive it but just in case)
Think that might be most likely option at the moment

Stick in your parents address and bobs your uncle
Yes, fraud is the answer. What could go wrong?Just guessing here but OP's issue could be that he hasn't been at the address for long. Also he won't come up on the electoral role. Is the house rented? Living with girlfriend is probably regarded as higher risk than living with parents.
As others mentioned, postcode could be the issue - there's a story somewhere of a guy who moved a very short distance literally around the corner and his insurance leapt.
