How close to the junction is that car parked???
Not too close, perhaps 15 metres or so.I'm sure the car will have required exemption to park on the yellow lines. IMO if there is a way out it is that by parking there he is making it impossible to make a 'clean' U turn so you need to make a 3 point turn in the face of oncoming traffic.
This is a serious money making exercise - nothing to do with safety.

Why didn't you do a 3 point turn?
Good question. The honest answer is that neither of us (Mrs BC was driving) remember going through the No Entry sign. This is very odd as neither of us has ever failed to notice such a sign before. The guy on the Pepipoo forum also has no recollection of the sign but in all honesty it would be incredible if it wasn't there.
Unfortunately the data card on my dash cam has overwritten itself.

Thought a link on the previous page made it clear no one has exemption. AND IN A BIKE LANE.I'm sure the car will have required exemption to park on the yellow lines. As someone mentioned earlier, not easy for an artic having to reverse out of there. Money making trap me thinks.

Interestingly the PCN states Temple Mill Lane and the road sign agrees with that but on searching online it appears that the road should be Temple Mills Lane (with an S). I suspect that the council put the wrong road sign up after the redevelopment. Might try to argue that there was no contravention because Temple Mill Lane in Newham does not exist.

Not a hope, you don't decide whether to pass a No Entry sign based on whether the road name is spelled correctly on the roadsign. (Not saying that you 'decided', I believe it is missable.)
You may be right but the fact is that the PCN refers to a road which does not exist. The strongest part of the defence IMO is that the road signs are still directing traffic into the No Entry trap and the (illegally parked) Newham camera car is making it difficult to make a U turn.
I just started this on pepipoo - http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=1017...
Starting to wonder if its all worth the effort to save £65 but I hate the thought of the bar stewards getting away with it.
On top of the illegal parking, why can that not be enforced on foot? It's definitely worth a punt at an appeal considering the confusing direction signs. If it's turned down sounds like a job for the local rag, especially if you can get http://notomob.co.uk interested, seeing as you've already posted there.
Good luck chap.

Have a quick google of the myriad of forum posts and news articles about the bus lane on Minster Street in Reading. If you are thinking of challenging your ticket there are some useful pointers on the various traffic forums - nearly all challenges relate to the fact that the road has a straight through arrow at a busy traffic light junction, only to then turn in to restricted access 100m down the road which forces an unsuspecting motorist to do a full U-turn on a busy highstreet. Most challenge this on the basis that more adequate signage is required at the traffic light junction to stop motorists carrying on unaware that the road is restricted further down.
I was unfortunate enough to have been stung by this and I have to admit I just paid the £30 and got on with life - some have successfully challenged.

Well not surprisingly London Borough of Newham rejected the appeal. The letter said that if I signed into the 'Pay It' sections of their website I could view the photographs. Guess what, there were no photographs.
Sent off today for the tribunal which should be heard late December.
Good luck, have a happy Christmas and keep us all in the Rembrandt with the outcome.Sent off today for the tribunal which should be heard late December.
Well I appealed to London Borough of Newham which was predictably refused so I took the appeal to the tribunal in London. The appeal was heard yesterday and I WON!!!!
The decision was based on the signs being wrong and the council admitting (from a Freedom Of Information) request that the sign was not corrected until after the event.

What punishment did the council receive for this deception other than loosing your penalty payment? Surely the persons who carried out the enforcement and the one who refused your appeal are guilty of some criminal offence? The decision was based on the signs being wrong and the council admitting (from a Freedom Of Information) request that the sign was not corrected until after the event.

Excellent result, well done for persuing it.The decision was based on the signs being wrong and the council admitting (from a Freedom Of Information) request that the sign was not corrected until after the event.
I think you should publicise this via the Mail or some other mass media, there will have been hundreds of people (maybe more) who have just paid up. You could get them all reversed.
