If I pass a C1, will I also get a B+E entitlement?
Discussion
Right, so I've been looking at adding the B+E entitlement to my license to allow the towing of trailers, but it seems for an extra few hundred quid I could just do a C1 course, I've been told passing my C1 would give me my B+E entitlement, but I can't find any hard proof of this, so the question is this, If I pass my C1 will it give me a B+E entitlement, or do I have to pass my C1+E or even a C+E to get it, or do none of these provide the lesser B+E entitlement?
You can of course tow trailers on your B only licence. Remember that when getting passing a C1 test that you will be subjected to the medical requirements of a medical test every 5 years from 45 and every year over 60. There is no such requirement for BE which is also automatically renewed at 70 when the licence has to be renewed.
Dont mess about with a C1 entitlement. Category C will cost about the same amount but you will get a lot more for your money. C+E will add E entitlements to every category that you hold and any that you gain in the future.
I sounds frivolous but I took my C / HGV2/3 for the craic - you don't always need a reason.
