If you trust them so little, why did you buy the damn thing from them in the first place?
Well I can't say I planned on it breaking down and then not having it for 6 weeks and counting. I don't possess the crystal ball you seem to be blessed with. Thanks for your input though, it's been invaluable.bmw535i said:

Well I can't say I planned on it breaking down and then not having it for 6 weeks and counting. You are complaining you don't want them driving your car, because you don't trust them not to thrape and abuse it.
Yet they have already had PLENTY of opportunity to do that - before you ever saw it.

It is now my car. If you'd be happy to let a garage use your car for whatever they wanted then fair play to you.

It's not the dealer's fault that the part is on backorder, we had to wait months for a part for a car we bought and which developed a problem. The garage fixed the problem without a murmur and let us have a courtesy car the whole time which seems to be the situation you're in too. I'm not sure what else anyone could reasonably expect.
I suppose they could fit a used part but then what happens if it fails? I'd just hang on to be honest, at least you'd know it's been sorted.

And what's that changed, apart from a name on a piece of paper? It certainly hasn't affected the mechanical condition of the vehicle, or undone any damage that may or may not have been done from previous abuse.
ha ha I really am confused by you. Of course, ownership is just a piece of paper - I'm happy for anyone to do whatever they like with my car without question. I don't mind if they drive it, get caught speeding, park illegally, lend it to customers - they can do whatever they like. As the owner, who am I to argue.Fancy lending me your car while they are working on mine?

<chuckle> Somehow, I doubt you really mean that...
Why not? You owning it doesn't actually mean anything - it's just a piece of paper. But, yes, you'd be more than welcome. I was thinking more that you'd probably not WANT to be seen dead in many of my fleet, though...

Well, I don't remember buying it from you after you'd been driving around in it already, and I don't recall you needing to drive it in the course of fixing it, so I'm not quite sure about the relevance to the topic under discussion.

Three and a half months in total from diagnosis to fitting. We checked with Peugeot UK who confirmed the part we needed was on global backorder and we just had to wait for the factory to make some. Sucked, but there was no other option.
Fair one - seems a long time. The cats for mine were ordered from Denmark. God knows where the gearbox part is coming from.bmw535i said:

The Slowlex is spare and just needs an MOT. Last time it had one was a couple of years back, when a mate borrowed it for wedding transport - it passed OK then.
I'm about all day if you want to pick it up.
So now I have the car back finally.
It now has an extra 600 miles on the clock, still had a usb adapt or plugged in the cigarette lighter (I guess the phone needed charging on the commute), absolutely filthy - covered in bird crap and drinks spilt inside and oil and mud on the dash/carpets.
Most concerning is that the idrive now says it is overdue an oil service by 90 miles. Before it went in it had just had one and the idrive said it was due in 12000 miles. As the service intervals are calculated by the car depending on usage, I'm wondering how they've managed this. All the other service items are showing as they were before the repair.
There is now a strange fluttering/chattering noise under acceleration which wasn't there before. Apparently it's nothing to worry about.
Any thoughts?

I am sure a certain person will be along very shortly to voice their opinion..............but I would be shot of it like a scalded cat!It now has an extra 600 miles on the clock, still had a usb adapt or plugged in the cigarette lighter (I guess the phone needed charging on the commute), absolutely filthy - covered in bird crap and drinks spilt inside and oil and mud on the dash/carpets.

He says he will get his garage to reset the service indicator if I'm ever passing. I think I'll be taking it to my local independant specialist for them to have a good look over it.No idea why the service indicator is showing what it is. I've checked the oil and it's very very clean and fresh. To be fair he did offer to pay me back for a tesco car wash. I think I'll do it myself rather than let a load of people with questionable immigration status grind their flint infested chamois leathers into it.
