God I only got to page 2 and couldn't read any more, PH really is full of self righteous dicks at times. OP admitted he had made a cock up yet got hammered regardless.
OP massive cock up but next time, keep things like this of PH as they only go one way!
Well said, couldn't agree more! Pistonheads, where "Holy then thou" matters! OP massive cock up but next time, keep things like this of PH as they only go one way!

End result for closure - 6 points, £300 fine + normal bits
Big thanks to Andrew (AGT Law) for help with the mitigation statement which I submitted last month and had to read out in the room this morning.
Good result. I got fined more (double), in 2005, for a lesser speed on a nice day, and used a solicitor. Big thanks to Andrew (AGT Law) for help with the mitigation statement which I submitted last month and had to read out in the room this morning.
You going to continue to do >100mph?

To be fair the OP accepts he's broken the law, and isn't disputing the offence or punishment but is just looking to mitigate the punishment as much as possible using various loopholes.
I presume you'd feel the same about someone standing trial for murder?Retroman said:
100+ might feel dangerous in your average car that most of us drive, but for a lot of supercars (i have no idea what the OP drives) then it's not always as dangerous as most people think.
I didn't realise driving a supercar made it less likely for other drivers to pull into your path?RWD cossie wil said:

You would have thought nobody in here had ever driven at 100mph the way you lot are going on.
Its hardly like he was pushing it to the limit if he had a powerful car, its easy to get to 100mph with a light prod of the throttle for just a few seconds.
It's almost like the gathering place for bitter, sad old men in here. I don't understand why 100 mph is seen as such a big deal? Ze Germans manage to drive around their motorway network quite happily at speeds well above that for long periods of time... I love driving over there, such a sensible approach to it, derestricted where safe, limited where there are junctions, people trusted to use their own judgement. Its hardly like he was pushing it to the limit if he had a powerful car, its easy to get to 100mph with a light prod of the throttle for just a few seconds.
100mph in any decent semi modern car is perfectly safe, I'd far rather the authorities concentrated on idiots on their phones, or the tools that block the road network up driving at 40mph through NSLs, 50s & 60s, but carry on at 40mph through 30s!!
But that wouldn't make any money would it?
2. What other developed nations other than Germany allow cruising around at 100+mph?
lot of angry people on this thread.
Last time I was stopped by the police it was for crossing hatchings in the middle of the road on an overtake.
While I'm trying to bit my lip and eat humble pie for a completely legal manoeuvre they attempted to suggest they'd be watching me approach too quickly to a car which pulled into the fast lane earlier on, and the fact that my brake lights went on showed I was driving unreasonably.
It is my experience that the police rightly or wrongly make a decision to stop you. The stuff that then comes forth is everything they can think of to persuade you your driving is substandard regardless. Its psychology 101.
To take part you have to eat humble pie and not argue, as been said so many times on this forum. Its called passing the attitude test. Reflect on what's said and realise they had the choice to pull anyone over and they chose you.
Its a ridiculous dance, at the end of which the police decide whether they want to prosecute.
You guys are taking all sorts of opinions and stances based on the dance rather than the reality. The speed is probably not in question and you must make your own opinion on whether you think speeding is worthy of its punishment. The bullying however is very subjective and almost certainly part of the dance.

Op, I'd laugh my arse off if the magistrate was a PHer and has read this thread. I know you've rejected any opinion other than "all coppers are bds, they should delay punishment until it suits you", but the one question that you've not been offered so far is this - can you not see the risk in detailing your offence, and your plan to get out of it on a public forum?
I believe court cases are a matter of public record. All it would take is your local Brake activist to take an interest, pass a print of this thread to someone and you're fked.

No as the date as been and gone, I've got my punishment
Before yesterday my personal info was heavily redacted. Beyond that in everything I've done to mitigate the outcome I haven't done anything illegal although something tells me that they may have seen through an element of the income section as a fine discounted to £300 is a bit more than 1 week of the net ~£1200 I declared I earned a month - it's more like the pre- discounted amount (should have been ~£200) but I'll begrudgingly take it as without the pension contribution last month it'd be at least double

£35k a year? not to shabby a salary.....
ive read this with interest and glad to see you managed to escape a ban. hope that its now sorted and in the past but you have also learned a lot from the experience.
1. you were caught bang to rights....
2. over a ton on that section of road ? not wise. it was mentioned earlier that it has a high number of waggons plus its just had a merge from the M23 and some folks come up and swing out to lane 3 without checking mirrors. ive been along that part of the road many many times over the years and its quite an unpredictable stretch.
3. your quote => Please for those saying that conditions weren't great they were; there was little traffic there were 3/4 lanes to use, was driving an impeccably maintained (MOT & full service the week before coupled with new tyres) ~300bhp exec car well within both my own and the car's limits. To say it was dangerous on speed alone is false. I would reply - while your car is impeccably maintained you cant allow for upredicatable mechanical failure st happens, debris on the road ? One of the most impeccably maintained machines fell foul of that - it was called concord and it run over a piece of debris on the runway, and we all know what happened there. You may have the best car on the road and be a superb driver with full faculties and a blinding fast reaction time, however you are not going to be able to deal with all eventualities that occur. A waggon in front of you sheds a tire and jacknifes, someone does something totally unexpected on the road. your reaction times are limited by the distance you are covering. 110mph would mean that you are covering around 50 meters every second.
4. everyone around you is expecting that you will be going around 70, tipping up at over a ton could suprise quite a few.....
5. please - learn from your experience take a step back and think about it.
6. hope that you have many more trouble free miles and that plod doesnt trouble you to much.
