Visited a friend in Sunningdale today and we went for a walk.

Two odd things:

1) when turning from Station Road into Sandy Lane there is a sign (rectangular, blue background, white lettering) saying "Unsuitable for motor vehicles". Sandy lane, although a little narrow - is a fully tarmac'd road absolutely suitable for motor vehicles. What gives?

and a hundred yards away ...

2) there is a false GATSO on High St - it looks like the rear of a standard yellow GATSO from both directions - it is very well made and completely unmarked. What gives?

I figure that the local residents association are all obsessed and have had both things set up - the GATSO appears to be mounted at the edge of someones property right next to the road. My friend said that the false GATSO used to be outside the pub, but that it was moved a while ago.

Anyone know anything about this?

Perhaps there are no passing places on the narrow lane.

the lane is only 100 yards long and it is just wide enough for cars to pass (as some of the residents have their cars parked on the road.
