Is Volvo getting back into the police car game?
Discussion
For years the Volvo V70 in various guises was a mainstay of police car fleets across the U.K.
I've noticed lately that BMW appear to be the patrol car if choice - particularly here in Northumbria.
Last night I saw what looked like a Northumbria ARV based on the new V90.
66 plate with a K region identifier.
Is Volvo on its way back into police fleets?

Volvo UK always used to be based in Marlow, which is borderline for using K-for-Keynes-(Milton) prefixes. They're only just down the road in Maidenhead for the last few years, which I'd have thought would go with R-for-Reading, but their road test fleet does seem to be predominately K-prefix. At a guess, it's a demo vehicle being loaned out for eval purposes.66 plate with a K region identifier.

My force has just taken delivery of a new batch of BMW's - the garage manager said they've had an unbeatable deal.
He anticipates the fleet converting from diesel to petrol in the not too distant future
Are the diesels fairly reliable with (what I'd assume is) lots of motorway running to keep the EGR/DPF from getting too gunked up? Or do they still seem to throw their fair share of problems? He anticipates the fleet converting from diesel to petrol in the not too distant future

Don't have many problems at all with the 530d. The Jag XF on the other hand....there's a reason we didn't have them on the fleet long. Bigends said:

Do you know of any reason why, that you can share?never emissions or lentil eating nonsense like that
diesels take longer to empty their tanks.

the police always talk about fuel burn, and hours between refills.

Then fit a bigger Gas tank. never emissions or lentil eating nonsense like that

Currently in the US and its lovely to hear plod pull away with a lovely V8 roar.
Infact its great that almost every large car/vehicle (exept trucks) have petrol V8
I mentioned it to a shuttle driver last week after identifying the minibus was a petrol V8
His responce: DIESEL!! Its a minibus not a fking truck!
