Largely speed is irrelevant as I was only asking whether traffic plod carried guns which could process a NIP.
Unlikely. But you never know.

I don't like to admit defeat but I slowed down after being knabbed twice by "hidden" camera operators.

You see a place where it's safe to make good progress. They see a place where it's easy to catch people.
The equipment most used in Essex will take 0.32s and they have video and still cameras within the hand-held lasers there.
I think yours will drop-through first.

Suffolk police. Hoping their 6 fingers couldn't operate the camera hehe

Not to worry. Rules are rules.

Points are possibly a course then...

I accelerated out of a parking spot yesterday, fairly quickly as there were few gaps in traffic. 30mph limit. See camera van, gently brake but notice I'd got up to about 40mph..... his windows were closed, so I'm hoping he was just leaving/setting up, or was having a cuppa. So now a wait of a few weeks to see.... touch wood, I've never had a speeding ticket despite driving enthusiastically for 20 odd years.

They are not prohibited from shooting through closed windows.

A proper copper ? I very much doubt you'll hear anything about it - he (or a colleague) would most likely have pulled you if he'd wanted to have a word..

Unsure. Looked like trafpol and he had the car door open. I didn't get the best look in as I was past it before I could look too much.

By 'proper', I mean police officer rather than SCP drone.

That's the breaks I suppose mate! Should have taken the bike!

My last 4 cars have all been silly quick but in all that time I've only had 1 speeding ticket - for doing 30 mph!
I was on Southend seafront a week after they dropped the limit to 20 and didn't realise.

Does anyone know how long these new camera radar thingies have to be locked on to you to get a valid reading?

What is SCP?

Edit - Just realised you mean safety camera partnership.

I went through one on the M4, junction 19, 2 weeks last Friday. Handheld gun on the bridge. I could have been anywhere between 85-90 mph depending on how far back it was pointed. I haven't heard anything and as my company car is registered to the building I work in I'm guessing I'm in the clear.
I think I read on here awhile back that the guns can be set to just record +100 mph or any set speed?

It records any speed. You can set the gun to sound an alarm over a set speed but hardly anyone uses this. Camera vans lasers will still record any speed but they can set the camera recording to only record at certain speed (10% +2)

Yes, I know. But they always seem to have the windows open round here.

He was also using it in a place where he would have a high probability of hitting other cars and objects that would give a false reading, but I guess they don't give a toss about that as long as they are making money.

How would they hit other cars? A laser beam is so narrow it's pretty much impossible to target one car and get another.

It's below the recommended threshold for a summons so, unless it's 4 or so months after the alleged incident, an FPN should be the most likely outcome.
