This isn't a dig at the OP but ive seen this time & time again on PH where somewhere states something has happened, 99% of PH state run a mile etc etc, OP comes back saying got a call give him another chance, PH say what are you doing, run away etc etc...rinse and repeat then after all that's done the OP states they lost all their money and don't have anything to show for it!

I mean why start a thread asking for help then don't take anything on board until it's too late??! (again not aimed at OP but just general posts ive seen recently)

Those people make their money from escaling this. It's in their interests for people to run around getting CCJ's etc.

What you should do is go to the blokes house. Not this weekend. Not next week. But tonight. And calmly ask for your money back. People find it a lot harder to ignore someone. Do not get aggressive or make silly threats. Just say you want your money.

Do not engage with texting or facebook. That is for 13 year old girls. Turn up at his house and ask for your cash.

Surprised there isn't a PH wiki of tradesmen/people that people could contact for a reliable, fairly priced job

s55shh..if you sign the guy up to do the work you need and pay a deposit, then the tradesman will have the money to start on the OPs job.

What do you think is this blokes motive? Ive just had a text off him saying he is on his way now with digger & whacker to drop it off use in the morning. Why would you drop plant machinery off and leave it? I havent bothered to respond as there really is no point. Anyway needless to say nobody has turned up. I think he wants to string this out for months, I guess so I dont come looking for him, as right now he hasnt technically pissed off with my money.
Il be driving over to his house AM. This has to be the biggest farce ever.

How long ago did he send the text? Make sure you are at near the window so you don't miss the chance to talk to him.
Invite him in for a cup of tea perhaps?

Also don't know if you have said already, but how much is actual job price? As wondering what percentage that £1200 deposit is.

8 days late isn't worth getting your knickers so twisted about. I'd give him a while longer.

Bloke was supposed to start on 14th.
It's now 27th.
That's more than 8.

Oh. Still not worth getting so anxious about. Builders, electricians, decorators...all do this nowadays.

Well fk me. HSS hire truck outside my fking house with a digger on the back! The driver rang the bell and said 'are you ok mate'? I said I am actually speechless to see you.
He has just driven a digger onto the lawn. I asked him if he did much work for this joker and he said he does a fair bit.

Hopefully this can end up under the 'alls well that ends well' banner.

Maybe an idea to post photos of the progress the guy is making, that way the more experienced members on here can advise if he is doing things the right way and not cutting any corners.

Better late than never then.......seriously though keep good records, ask Q's and take plenty of pics (try not to alert him though) and post on here if you have any worries....good luck.
