They are average speed cameras, bright yellow posts etc, and all the rest of the traffic will have been doing 68 mph or less. Have to ask what you were thinking if it was in that area.
1 MPH slower & he would have been ok. (BTW OP: If you sit on 110kph then you're only going 68.3508mph )

.......It was the last rhd Ghibli cup, but not the last Ghibli, I can't see why somebody would change the speedo to km.
Have you owned the car from new? - It sounds like a personal import from somewhere such as Hong Kong/Japan/Australia etc., etc., to Me.The v5 shows first owner 8/98, address in Berkshire.
Looking at parts catalogues it wouldnt be a surprise, the odds are they picked up what ever part was nearest to hand !!
I have had the car 10 years now, I know the km - mph conversion but we all try to push it a little......
Lesson learnt - be more vigilant !!

What happened to the 10% + 2mph rule ?
That's the lowest speed you can be done at (if the ACPO guidelines are followed) NOT the limit you are safe at.Safe (if guidelines are followed) is 10% + 1

I also think one of the requirements for qualifying for a SAC are that your speed must be between the speed limit plus 10% plus 2mph and the speed limit plus 10% plus 9mph (so between 79mph and 86mph inclusive in a 70 limit). That sort of implies that generally if you're doing less than the speed limit plus 10% plus 2mph you won't be prosecuted; it also wouldn't make any sense to me to offer the option of a SAC to someone doing 79mph in a 70mph limit but give points and a fine to someone doing 78mph...

Thank you.
I will await my sac then.
Do you get them in the area where you were caught or can you opt to take them nearer to home ?
Depends on where you got caught. Dorset you can only do them in Dorset, I think other forces you can do them elsewhere.I will await my sac then.

Didn't challenge; took the SAC. I was under the impression the enforcements started at +10% so didn't even think to challenge. No harm done either way; the SAC was actually pretty good.
In theory at least I suppose enforcement can start at 1mph over the limit but the impression I get is that most forces still use the ACPO guidelines and those that don't will back-off if they've issued a NIP for a transgression within those guidelines and it's then challenged.Having been on on an SAC myself a couple of years ago I agree they can be beneficial; however, it does seem very dependent on who's running the course as I also know a number of people who've attended one and found them to be quite patronising.

Camera van? I've stated on here before that I've never trusted them when it comes to the 10+2 guidelines.
Yes it was a van, parked on an overpass and painted dull yellow and looking like a standard council/motorway works van. They also had several cars parked up about a mile after the van probably hoping to catch repeat offenders.parabolica said:

Sounds like they were doing ANPR for no insurance and other offences, too, not just speed.Gassing Station | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
