Ring up your local VW parts department and ask them to look on ETKA to see which stereo was factory fitted.

When buying insurance I've never come across an opportunity to declare factory fitted options, only modifications.
I think Admiral Group have form for this. If you don't declare options they'll only replace with standard.

To be honest, it's kind of strange that insurers generally don't ask - in the OP's sister's car, it clearly made it a bigger risk,

My Merc has £7K of options, including COMAND (nav, phone etc) which when new was nearly 3 grand. LV= asssured me (in writing) it was fully covered as it was factory fitted.. If it got nicked now, the car would be a write off!

Umm, perhaps you've forgotten - in the usual haste to shoot the messenger - that they're going to pay. They're merely asking for proof that's what was there.
Thats not what the title of the thread says

VW have confirmed that a RNS510 was fitted from factory. Her insurance have now approved for one to be fitted.

Good stuff - was going to offer to decode the spec for you if you still hadn't got a result. Got an app on my PC called VAG Companion which decodes spec codes
