Funny story time wink

Leaving the office late generally is as fun as it sounds, but one nice side effect is that the roads are pretty much dead so i can safely have a bit of a hoon without bothering other people or risking a tug.

On the motorway i try and keep the speed sensible when people are in view but put on a bit of a sprint between blocks of cars .... in the distance i see 2 cars travelling one behind the other in the middle lane so i'm starting to coast down to a more social level when i notice the first of the two cars is a police car.

I sense fun times ahead so i match speed and hang back ... police car keeps following, other driver oblivious ... so eventually i go past speeding ever so slightly to make the pass but well below anything that will rile up the fuzz (72ish).

After i go past i go right the the far left lane, hanging in the middle lane and making a bit play of it ... plenty of space as i know plod is watching but i'm trying to give the guy a subtle hint.

He puts on the horn and beams. What a c*ck.
Few seconds later blue lights come on and he gets tugged wink

So, lessons learned:

1) traffic police still patrol motorways at 2:50ish am (i thought they stopped after midnight).
2) middle lane drivers do occasionally get tugged
3) some people just can't be helped

P.s also made a nice average speed wink

Cool story bro!

(genuinely so biggrin Makes me feel a little bit better when I come up behind MLM drifting between 60 & 70 on an otherwise empty motorway! M25 seems to lure them from far & wide grumpy )

Good to see these people getting pulled over now and again, shame is such an infrequent thing but better than nothing.

OP, did the middle lane hogger flash and beep you for overtaking and going all the way to the left again? He/She sounds like a t*t!

Yep - literally went from 3rd lane to 2nd, indicator off, paused for a couple of seconds, then indicated across to 1 ... no "chop", no gesture or anything like that.

I thought by pausing that little bit it would come across better but nope ... he took offence for some reason. Maybe he took offence to me (slightly) speeding? God knows.

Anytime I read about middle lane hoggers, I recall that old dash cam video with the lorry driver pootling along in L1 with the car being followed by a Police car in the middle lane and then brake checks the Police car and gets a tug. The joy displayed by the HGV driver is so amusing.

Nice milf.

Middle-lane hogging is as bad as ever on motorways. It is bizarre and irrational behaviour by so many drivers, though, because the middle lane is not the safest lane to be in on a motorway (left lane is safest).

In contrast to your story, I ran into an angry Astra driver. Not content with sitting in the middle lane with no other cars about, he had to sit in the 3rd lane.
I patiently sat behind him doing 70mph for about 2 miles. Got bored, flashed him. Nothing.
So I moved into the left lane and passed him with a clear empty lane between us.
He then decides this is not on and proceeds to chase me at silly speeds for the next 10 miles, past heavier traffic. He even came up inside me once and yelled c**t at me from his window. he really did look very displeased. Unfortunately there were no plod in sight to nick him.
Some people really cannot be helped :-)

Hello to the chap who was sitting in lane 3 for mile after mile at around 10am this morning on the M6 around Coventry. Hello and thankyou to the trafpol in the unmarked car that pulled him over. Never have I been happier to see those blue lights appear in my rear view mirror and seeing the idiot heading for the hard shoulder. I will admit to laughing like a drain.

YEP- J2-3 & 3-2 have always been a problem. It's bad heading north from J2 around 1700 , as L1 has trucks, L2 has numpties and L3 has the blue badge club trying to get another sales meeting. I've found what works is to get into L2 , get slightly ahead of a truck and indicate left. Given this I've found most decent truckers will make room. And you drive at 56 to J3. NEVER forget to thank the trucker for being a decent sort.
My nice moment was many years ago on the M69 heading toward Coventry, when we were all blinded by a car behind. I was doing 70/ish so I didn't want to speed up, as I thought I'd spotted side stripes on a car behind. Glad I didn't as shortly after Blues came on and Headlamp Harry/Harriet was it's way to the HC.
