Thank God an illegal number plate has been taken off the streets.

Meanwhile in London, moped riding robbery with violence gangs go unchallenged....

Phew.

(There are loads of DM links if anyone can be arsed to look)

I suspect that if you do nothing that it won't get followed up. I can't imagine the back office getting in touch with the officer and get him to go through his SIM card to get the number plate. I may well be wrong but I'd be tempted to wait it out.

Well that would be because the crooks on stolen mopeds don't have plates at all. It's a serious business a plate with no postcode or BS mark. No plate at all is just 'meh'.

A tad trivial but yes it's illegal.

I wouldn't have issued a ticker for that, as long as it's spaced correctly, correct font and size it's all good. I only issue tickets for those god awful vanity plates mis spaced and stupid fonts.

I carry a print out from DVLA with the regs so guys like the OP would just be handed one and warned to get it sorted on a next visit to halfords.

Sounds reasonable, although perhaps he had a ticket coming for the daft banner at the bottom which would have been as good a reason as any to get rid of that hideous 3D font at the same time.
But that's a crime against common decency rather than safety.
