Just received two tickets this morning, both dating from 1/9/18. so yes they do pursue it.
Shall I pay?

Can you just write back saying you weren’t driving?

The one I got from Germany last year has a nice head and shoulders photo of the driver on it . . .
(was only 20 euros though)

Slight tangent but I lived in Germany for 2.5 years. I had a 911 and drove like a loon on the derestricted autobahns. My wife had an A8 and drove like a granny with the kids in the back. I got one speeding ticket. She got two. One of which was in a mixed car/pedestrian zone where the limit was, IIRC, 5kph. She was doing 9kph. Her speedo didn't register anything less than 10kph. Has to be one of the slowest speeding tickets ever.

I also got a speeding ticket dated from the 25/8/18 last week, for doing 71 in a 50kph. Near Poitier. It's interesting that there seems to have been a splurge of tickets being sent from France to the UK. €45

I am thinking, Brexit - lets get some cash in before they leave,
I am thinking, `Gillet Jaunes, revenue is down lets go back through the speeding fines not chased up and get some money, also see above point.
I am thinking, delay at the French sorting office, now cleared.

I just paid mine, I am going back to France on 30th March and don't fancy being stopped at the border control.

I will pay, it’s a fair cop. I’m going to hold off a couple of weeks though, if they hit me with a few more I might see things differently.

Boo, no more how many times can you get flashed in France competitions frown

It was only a matter of time, people have been saying it will happen for 20 odd years.

Was going to say the same hehe nearly every time if not every time I've taken a vehicle over to France, I've been stopped and password checked.

My understanding is that in French law (and other Continental countries), it's the Registered Keeper who's liable, making the question of who was driving irrelevant when it comes to a fine.

There's a secret password been given to all UK Remainers.

If you are unable to recite the password when asked at the border, you're taken to a darkened room and Les Flics show you what a special place in hell looks like.

Yep - I got one last week too from September last year (just north of Paris).

Given that' was the 6th "flash" I've had over there in the last 3 years I got off lightly, they are welcome to my €45 (though the French rellies think It's the scourge of Macron and I shouldn't pay!!)

Suppose the registered keeper wasn’t there? For example what would happen if I lent my car to Mrs BC and she took it to France where she incurred speeding fines.

How could I be liable if I wasn’t even in the country. Put it another way could I be liable under French law when I wasn’t there?

AIUI, yes. It is the owner who is liable on most of the Continong.

They do justice differently over there. Not necessarily better or worse, but differently.

OK so under French law the registered keeper is responsible but if the RK isn’t and wasn’t in France how can they be liable to French laws? confused
