Korupsi is reducing though, partly through the simple move of paying civil servants a better wage.

I was at a Police station yesterday sorting stuff for my visa - no hint of being asked for any extra cash - all done for free.

The highly published arrest of 140 odd guys from a gay gym who were having a big sex party has more to do with bribes though than in does their sexuality.

However....it's not a crime to be gay in Indonesia but thanks to officials seeking the hardline Muslim vote it's become a bit more difficult. I, personally, would not want to live anywhere else in Indo apart from Bali. Lot of gay guys here from other parts of Indo as it's much more liberal.
