This.

A friend of mine was pestered endlessly by a company wanting him to buy a conservatory. In the end he invited them round to give him a quote. He lives in a second floor flat.
I kept a company on the phone for 45 mins at my parents discussing a conservatory, the phone went dead when I told them it was a second floor flat.
Stopped all the sales calls until all the Microsoft/ppi/ambulance chasers started a few years later .

We used a large Norwich based company for our windows & doors, the last was fitted over a decade ago, we still get sales calls.

None of these calls ever get through, thanks to BT Call Guardian phone. Cold callers seem to be allergic to the announce mode, where they have to say who they are .

Hello!

Long story short, a double glazing company installed some windows for us around October last year, I can't complain the work was pretty good and the windows are alright.

However since then we've had 26 phone calls from the company in question asking if we want new windows installed, despite the fact they've been and done them already! After a few times I asked them to remove me from whatever calling list they have, obviously this hasn't happened.

I've had enough now, how can I legally tell them to fk off?
Join TPS, and depending on your phone provider, block the. Umber, then visit the showroom and speak to the MD, educate him. If they have a web site, put in there as well.

TPS does not apply when you have 'opted in' which I presume OP did at some stage - possibly by not ticking a box on previous paperwork. - clearly if you have asked them to get stuffed it becomes an enforcement issue for a regulator.

I haven't used this service but it is really any different to just letting your answer machine intercept your calls?

Elgin AFB is in Florida.
He was alluding to the spelling. Defence Estates ceased to exist some time ago. It's now part of the DIO (Defence Infrastructure Organisation).

Yes it is different , it is actually the phone that does the filtering , numbers in the internal get put straight through but unrecognised numbers give the caller a message and require the caller to announce their name , the phone then rings and replays the announced name you can then accept or reject the call . Spam calls don't tend to bother announcing who they are .

On the odd occasion I get calls from the Indian continent, I just hold the phone next to the room smoke alarm, and test it's still working.

In my experience, the ICO are pretty useless at dealing with these sorts of issues.

Be interesting if they tell you current windows are sub standard not knowing they are theirs.

Claim your not really happy with the quality, "So what can you do better?" Lead him on if he doesn't recognise them, go through the whole thing PLEASE!!

If he's anything like the guy who sold me mine, he'll fall for it. Got mine fitted 10 years ago and he was classic, used all the tricks, wasn't going to leave without me signing.Told him he was too expensive, called the boss, the works. Agreed on price, all fitted OK.

Called them and told them I wouldn't be taking the credit terms after all, they'd have payment in full in 24hrs, (I'd already got a better loan rate from my bank before he came to sell to me).

"You can't do that!"

"Yes I can"

"Well we'll have to charge you the full price for the credit insurance then"

"No you won't as I'm not using your credit insurance at all, but give it a try and we'll see what happens!"

One very unhappy double glazing company salesman!!

Another vote for BT Call Guardian. I haven't had a single nuisance call get through since I bought it over a year ago. A fair number have tried and been blocked, you can see them in the phone's memory.

I registered with TPS years ago at home, and to be fair it did stop the few sales calls we were getting, but then again I never have the landline number to anyone and it was never in any phone books etc so I wouldn't expect many calls anyway.

But, I'm pestered at least several times a day at work by idiots trying to sell things, I've registered the number with TPS but it doesn't seem to have made any difference.

Around 50% of the sales calls are from overseas so maybe they aren't restricted by any UK rules?

It's driving me mad at the moment.
