I registered with TPS years ago at home, and to be fair it did stop the few sales calls we were getting, but then again I never have the landline number to anyone and it was never in any phone books etc so I wouldn't expect many calls anyway.

But, I'm pestered at least several times a day at work by idiots trying to sell things, I've registered the number with TPS but it doesn't seem to have made any difference.

Around 50% of the sales calls are from overseas so maybe they aren't restricted by any UK rules?

It's driving me mad at the moment.
I am pretty sure they DO NOT apply overseas unfortunately.

[quote=Who me ?]None of these calls ever get through, thanks to BT Call Guardian phone. Cold callers seem to be allergic to the announce mode, where they have to say who they are .
I haven't used this service but it is really any different to just letting your answer machine intercept your calls?

Yes it is different , it is actually the phone that does the filtering , numbers in the internal get put straight through but unrecognised numbers give the caller a message and require the caller to announce their name , the phone then rings and replays the announced name you can then accept or reject the call . Spam calls don't tend to bother announcing who they are .
Another vote for BT Call Guardian. I haven't had a single nuisance call get through since I bought it over a year ago. A fair number have tried and been blocked, you can see them in the phone's memory.

I always chuckle at these posts saying that "I've registered with the TPS so that'll stop em!". You do realise that this "service" is simply to gain even more people's contact details for them to sell on, right?

The "service" is run by the Direct Marketing Association. hehe

Thread resurrection time, have you had a quote for new new windows yet?

I had this, I gave them my ex wife's address and told them to turn up there for a quote. Childish I know but made me giggle.

A quick search online will reveal who are the directors of the company are. I would suggest you do this then try and find out their contact details give them a call and tell them if they don't stop ringing you your have their number put into every call centre dialler that you can think of such as PPI claims loans credit cards etc etc
Just google PPI call back, loads of sites will pop up for you to enter their number.
