You yourself have just admitted that 'Perhaps Santander asked her to do something extra without my knowledge?'
That's the exact question many on here have been trying to get answered throughout - still to no avail!!

If they did ask Amanda to do something extra without my knowledge, then it was without my knowledge. So I cannot answer the question. Why?
Because if Amanda took on extra work, then it was without my knowledge.
Get it?

She wouldnt be able to take on work from Santander while she was representing you as it would be a massive conflict of interest to represent both sides of a dispute. you're talking ste.
I was not the client, Santander was.

If only there was a way you could communicate with a solicitor who you instructed to work, for you, to ask what the breakdown of the bill was, that she gave, to you.
Or use their complaints process to resolve. Or any often other formal routes that have been constructively suggested and ignored.
I was not the client, Santander was.

7 pages and I'm lost!
OP recieves a bill for £700 odd pounds from a solicitor for a identity check- 7 pages later OP states he did not engage the services of said solicitor, why did the solicitor send the bill to the OP? confused
I am not sure they did; I think they send him money, with a deduction for their services?
Correct.
