I have ticket for parking. I was parked on a broken yellow line, the line has been patched due to roadworks and is therefore broken.

I was under the illusion that this line is now unenforceable? Could someone please clarify?

Depends on the generosity of the local authority, some will agree it doesn't comply and cancel, some will say the intention was clear so pay up.

Unenforceable.
Same as when parking bays don't have a closing marker line to denote end of bay.

Even under the new regs ?
As here we go states the intention is clear ?
Similar near us cars park past the end of the bays daily on the 'worn' zig zags opposite another road reducing the carriage way making it more difficult for vehicles to exit.

Sounds like the OP is being a cock because the line is 'broken' by a pothole and not repainted, i'd make him pay double for being a .

All day I reckon. Moved the car off the drive to get into the garage, ended up leaving it there.

So it's outside your house, and we assume it has been there for some time, I think your having a giraffe.

OP

I think you are done like a kipper, BUT

get onto pepipoo.com council forum and ask them. The chaps on there are, by the most part more conversant with the minutia of laws than the average PH commenter

There could be something fatal with the ticket so post up everything and do exactly as they say
Piss them about with porkies and you will be droppped quicker than a pork chop in a mosque or synagogue

So does anyone actually know if I can get off it on a technicality?

Whether it was 5 mins or 5 days, who the hell wants to pay? If you're one of those knobs who has nothing better to add than some sarcastic remark, just click back because I wont bite, and you're just clogging up the thread with useless bks.

Silverfoxcc has given great advice. It isn't binary, you will need to provide more details.

I watched some parking wars programme the other week, some bird had done the same, went to an appeal and they told her she knew it was a double yellow line, a small patch of pain missing didnt mislead so she had to pay.

That said, I think you still get discounted rate if you challenge it and lose so might be worth a go?

If you really wanted to fight this, you should've taken pictures of the car parked over the worn out/potholed lines making sure to get the ticket in shot etc. I've been able to fight a fine a few times in South London with dodgy lines, however they usually ask for evidence of what your on about
