Cash for crash, but no passengers in the car!!! Yeah...right
Who said there weren't any passengers?

I've been hit three times in 15 years at the same junction on a steep hill on the A35. It's the old road from Axminster and has a very wide angled exit where it joins the 3 lane main road on an upward, sweeping right hander.

Situation is always the same: You slow down, look right, see that it looks clear and just at the point you're about to pull out you can then see right around the corner and spot the oncoming vehicle(s) travelling at 60 mph or more. You stop and the driver behind who has already seen you pull out and is at this moment looking to the right drives straight into the back of you.

It's a stupid design and locals know never to approach looking right but to actively witness that the vehicle in front has gone before even thinking about looking right and proceeding.

At one point it was running at one accident per day.
Had a few near misses there too.

And just why were you riding a 350cc bike at 16? (I would never have done such a thing...)

Pics please (Of the bike smile )
In Guernsey (born there, hence my name) you can ride any motorbike you wish once you've turned 16. I swapped the RD350 for a GPZ1000RX shortly afterwards as a 17th birthday present to myself.

Well your initial description said "the guy got out rubbing his neck". Then I asked you if there were any passengers and you didn't reply. So how many passengers were there?

Rob, working in motor insurance claims, you do unfortunately see the worst side of people, which tends to give you a very cynical outlook on life.

It's a common shunt. My method to avoid it is not to look to my right until I've seen the car in front go.
This all the way. It's not rocket science. Don't move off until it's clear. Not when you think it's clear, when you know it's clear.
I do this too, but it take a conscious effort for me not to look right initially. It's counter-intuitive.

Not just at roundabouts but at any left turn.

Question, with a correctly adjusted head restraint, and a slowish shunt, can you get whip lash.

Yes, definitely. Accidents are strange things. People walk away unhurt from wrecked and overturned cars, whilst others can be hurt in a low speed bump.

That said, most low speed bump whiplash claims are bullst.
