Speeding in Europe.
Discussion
Ironically i just recieved my first speeding ticket from a speed camera whilst driving through Germany. With German efficiency the ticket took just three week to land on my door mat.
I was around 8mph over the speed limit and the fine for this crime, €20, obviously i will just pay up.
Anone else been naughty and had fines through the post since May??

Oh god....I went past one of the boxes and it flashed a red light on me...this was back on the 20th of September. So almost 4 weeks ago. I thought I was doing bang on the speed limit as Waze had told me it was there!
I was under the impression they didnt bother sending them over here...so I guess I might still get a surprise!

Germany: In my experience, you sometimes see a red flash when you're a tiny bit too fast but never hear anything about it. So I wouldn't worry too much. I was under the impression they didnt bother sending them over here...so I guess I might still get a surprise!
Oh, and I was caught slightly over a 100 limit just south of Utrecht - in a German registered car - if that counts. (Edit to add: it was last month.)

I will keep my fingers crossed then that it doesnt rear up and bite me in the future. To be fair...€20 if that is all it is....isnt that bad. Just cant afford points on my licence...needs to stay clean!
Did you get prosecuted?

I’m also keen to hear more about this.
It’s also the first time I’ve heard of a UK registered car receiving a speed camera fine at a UK address from an EU country.
I’ve been flashed multiple times over the years in Europe by speed cameras but never heard anything.
Cross border requests for driver details only came in mid May this year. It’s also the first time I’ve heard of a UK registered car receiving a speed camera fine at a UK address from an EU country.

I got flashed in France early Sep, not had anything - yet!
I was in France last month and it did say in the press that although the gendarmes can now trace you through your plate they haven't yet started to do anything about it . I wouldn't be surprised if they just log every offence then give them all together at the roadside if they physically catch you speeding in their country .

To be honest, the Dutch have been chasing the Germans for this sort of thing for decades. They generally don't like the big neighbours next door.
I was blitzed (to use the German word) at 109km/h, tolerance was 4km/h so my fine was €39 for doing 105. If I had wanted, I could have waited and paid €54 or even €99.... How kind!
