Told someone his sister is a ho,
Got upset, called the po po,
Now he knows it's a big no no,
Guess which penitentiary he's going to go.
Word out.

Apologies for further questions about your son.

You say it's up to police / CPS in general interest of public.......and then also say the friend wants to prosecute anyway.

Am I reading that right? I really can't understand why the friend is wanting to prosecute your son so much. Is there really nothing else that needs to be known (not for us but for you to know the whole story).

Again - not attacking your son as I don't know him.

I think he just wants someone done for it. A large group of people have viewed it and had a good ole laugh about it.
The one friend who viewed it is a teacher - the brother phoned the school up and this teacher chap had to have an interview by the head. All blew over in the end but completely over the top. I feel like calling him up and saying the only person you should be angry at is your own sister for parading her wares for cash on the internet!

Have you explained at any point how the friend found out that it was your son who sent the email?

If the police have gone to that extent, then there’s no way your son’s story stacks up. Also, how do they know it was your son? You said the police knocked on the door and specifically asked for your son. Why not you? Or your wife? Or another sibling?

Knocked on door explained situation then asked my son there and then as he is the only person who knows him and he told police yes it was him.

And your son’s story. Do you still believe him? There is no way the police will pursue this given the story you’re stating on here and even that has changed significantly since the first post.

OP I’ll be flamed for saying this but...

Beware the ‘friendly’ policeman.

You seem to have let your guard down completely in that respect and it doesn’t always go well!

According to some earlier posters, no offence has been committed - therefore its unlikely any action wiill be taken

I am not sure that we have enough facts to judge whether or not an offence was committed.

The police love a bit of faceache aggro, easy convictions usually.

Anyway I've read all 7 pages and all I can say is....fking snowflakes.

Don't forget that the emphasis/stress in such tunes is at the end of the line.
In this case on the 'o'. You should have added bro to the last one. wink.

The main offence committed here is that there's another thread about some poor sod having 120k stolen through fraud and has literally had to drag the police in for their involvement and here we have an incident which really doesn't require any police intervention at all and they're all over it.

If the girl had the video stolen, published without consent etc, then I'd say SHE has a fair right to report it to the police. On the grounds that it sounds like she does this for a day job and it's consensually published material, I don't really think it's crime of the century whether it was done to poke fun at her brother or not.

Presumably "hate crime" is another one for which quotae are set*, in the enlightened days in which we live, and this one would add an easy tick.

*and if anyone queries that, I have it first-hand from a serving Met officer, ref traffic targets.

I completely agree with this.

On one hand, OP, you said that your son thought his friend should know what was going on, so sent him an email to make him aware:

"My son was sent it and thought his friend (whose sister was in the video) deserved to know what was going on. He didnt want to get involved directly but felt this needed taking down so sent"

"Son admits to sending it and says he would do it again as brother should know whats been going around."

That sounds like the actions of good friend and even though he didn't want to get involved he felt it was his duty, as a friend, to say something. Very noble...

But then you later said he sent the email anonymously, with screenshot(s) of her face and joking about it!

So what he actually did was to send an email taking the piss, not to gallantly tip his mate off that something bad was going around with regard to his sister?
Quite. Here is what you might send if in the same situation, and if you 'didn't want to get involved'

Dear ...............,

I thought I should make you aware that there is a video being circulated that shows your sister naked etc etc etc

Sorry,

A concerned friend.
