It's not going to help matters if you keep badgering them about whether they're closing the case or prosecuting.

But nor does it help if you say, want to travel to the US, for example.

Telephone call last week to say the case has been passed to his superior for review, and then to the cps.
My son is half wanting this to go to court as it will give him a chance to tell his side of the story and to why this has got to this stage and what a ridiculous waste of police time and resources its been.

If it does go to court, would you let us know where and when, please?

I think I would like to be there to get my own perspective on what has gone on.

Not sure why you think that’s what a court appearance is for. It’ll be to see whether he sent a malicious email, which he did, so likely to be guilty.

Dave is in London, so it might be at The Bailey.

Yup, the only thing he will be asked is his name. He will be a spectator after that point I would think.

Thats really not how it works. If it gets to court it'll not be a debate of whether or not its a ridiculous waste of police time or to tell "his side" of it. It'll be down to whether or not he is guilty of the charges brought, based on the evidence.

I think your son needs professional advice once he hears the outcome from the CPS.

That's probably not the defence he should be going for.

From BBC:

Who has been prosecuted so far?

Kenneth Robinson, 59, from Blyth in Northumberland, threatened to upload a video of a former partner to the internet. He was ordered to pay his victim £200 in compensation, and was also given a three-year long order banning him from approaching or contacting his victim
Liam Little, 20, from Dunfermline, posted intimate photos of his ex-partner on Twitter, and was fined £700. Little shared the images after she showed friends a video he had accidentally posted online
Andrew Gray, 26, from Paisley, threatened a woman by text message that he would disclose an explicit video of them together. He was fined £300, and ordered to pay £500 in compensation to his victim
Kieran Coyle, 30, from Dundee, threatened to disclose a photograph of a woman in an intimate situation on social media, and was given a community payback order of 100 hours' unpaid work

And a criminal record which you pretty much have to declare to any employer for the next 5 years.

No further update on this, we have given up calling the police for an update now. They still have my sons phone. Anyone in the force on here? What happens in cases like these, do they get put on a back burner? Do they have to close cases off by a certain time or have an answer for their superiors as to why its still ongoing? Not being difficult about the police, I'm sure they are overstretched.

Why do you keep coming on here asking questions? You ignore any advice given anyway.

Then why would you bother to answer at all?

This is all getting a bit meta.
