Around here the entry area to every field (and many of the grass verges) look like this at this time of year:

Once you get a tractor on wet or soft ground they turn it into a mud-bath very quickly. The tractors cope fine of course, the tyres are designed to work on that sort of surface and still give traction, but they make a huge mess doing so.
That isn't particularly bad when you consider the axle weight. Not sure how we have got to tractor tyres from a blocked road.
Who knows....boredom perhaps.

Was there a sign saying "please do not park, passing tractors" ?

If yes, then they had it coming.

If not, then I'd find the inbred and castrate him.

Why is one needed?

BTW - the problem wasn't parking per se, it was inconsiderate parking not allowing reasonable width for vehicles to pass.

You used the phrase "chinny reckon" when talking to us adults , so please be quiet.

Only by half the drivers that had their vehicles damaged.

Ah but which half? Perhaps we could have another 1400 post argument about that!

The ones who didn't park before the ones on the opposite side, obvs.

On this road it's very very obvious which side of the road is the sensible one that should be parked on.

Have a look on street view.

Any more info come out about this (I bowed out weeks ago as the thread descended into arguments)?

Was speaking to someone who works for the farmer’s landlord yesterday who said they weren’t happy.

He’s well known for his behaviour on this anyway, putting rocks on the verge (& them being removed) and harranging the public to (pay to) use his boggy car park even though it routinely turns into a quagmire.

Not a pleasant chap at all by most accounts.

No follow up articles in the press/media AFAICS. Presumably police enquiries are still ongoing.
I have no idea what resources are available to deal with this or what priority is being attached to it.
It's less than 3 weeks since the incident and with no personal injury involved it may be relatively low in the pecking order.

Jimmy, it would have been a lot simpler if you had said, earlier in the thread, that you are very pi55ed off with farmers in general. It would explained why you were posting gibberish.
This.^^

Although knowing that a farmer has upset him in the past, cheers me up somewhat.

Mind you, moving from West Yorkshire to Perthshire next week and I hear it's worse
Where in Perthshire are you moving to? I live in Perthshire and do around 25k miles per year mostly on A and B roads and have very few problems other than the amount of mud that sometimes covers the minor roads.
Auchterarder.
My family is from Perth, so not a completely random move. Not exactly sure how well a broad Yorkshire accent will fit in though!
You'll like Auchterarder. I grew up there.

Just watch out for the parking. It's terrible. However, there should be space for most agricultural machinery to pass through - as well as FF 4x4s et al :-)

Your accent will be absolutely fine. With Gleneagles Hotel just up the road, finding a Scottish accent in Auchterarder can sometimes be difficult...

Well, I guess that's why I never park in a hedge or on a grass verge.
No doubt there is a nearby car park that they could have parked in and paid a few quid to support the upkeep of the locality.
Wouldn't necessarily expect a manic farmer to trash your car but they made their choice.
Proved to be a bad one.
