Farmer needs his license taking away, and a bill for the criminal damage that clearly is.

Call the police. Explain that the road is now blocked. Await further instructions.

Interested as to where this is so we can see the road OP?

Also, it's amazing what you find on google including forums.... for farmers? I suppose they have to do something when they're not ramming poorly parked cars... but supposedly, one guy was saying his insurance covered him for damage caused to other vehicles obstructing him from going about his work?

This seems..... dubious to me but I wondered if anyone had heard of similar? Seems like it'd still be criminal damage if deliberate though.

Were they not blocking the road? Two wrongs don't make a right, but if you park in such a manner that you block a public road, don't be too cross when someone damages your vehicle. I've been stuck when cars are parked like this and i's rather frustrating, even more so when you come back on the next load and someone else has blocked the road.

Likely just getting confused with what liability insurance really means. Accidental damage to a passing car is probably fine, smashing through them on purpose probably not so much.

I'm with the farmer though because I live in a rural tourist area and these kind of people do this all the time. We've had issues locally with them parking their campers at the side of the road over night on a single track road for a spot of wild camping.

A couple of years ago I got blocked in gong through the village. A local was walking her dogs and works for the police, she phoned the blockage in and they wouldn't come out. I had to reverse 56 feet of tractor and trailer between parked cars, which was a laugh.

What if there was no mobile signal up there and the sheep in the trailer were getting restless?

Also, what if there's no way the tractor could go backwards and nowhere for the cars in front of it to go (assuming that the tractor was heading towards the end of the road)? Even if the police did turn up in that situation, what other outcome could there have been?

The police arent going to sanction criminal damage.

There is little to no mobile coverage around those areas.

I hate it when people park like pricks, but still can't Bide by those that would key a badly parked car.

On the strength of what is in this thread, farmer has intentionally damaged a bunch of expensive cars rather than unhitch a trailer.

If the farmer has intended to cause damage, there is of course the offence of criminal damage.

If the farmer was then to say that the damage was caused accidentally when trying to pass through, he has a duty to stop and give details to the drivers, however if they are not present, he must report the incident to the police in line with section 170 of the road traffic act 1988.

Failure to do so is an offence.

What do you think would happen when you unhitch a trailer loaded with livestock?

Shame none of the photos show the available gap.

That van managed to get further off the road than the Yeti.
And those tyre marks next to the BMW, that's not from a tractor squeezing by, very strange.

In any case, what if an Ambulance or Fire Engine wanted to get through? phone the Police and wait for them to attend, and do what?

Next weekend will see different people parking there, who hadn't heard about this incident, and will park the same. It might be that the farmer involved has complained countless times to the local Police, Park Authority or Council, to find nothing changes, and finally lost his cool.

What if he hasn't noticed?
potentially he noticed hitting the wall on the other side, and over the noise of a tractor, didn't notice the vehicles being damaged.
