Xbox One Gubbins
Discussion
I've bought my son an Xbox one for Christmas (jammy bugger). A neighbour had one that he bought but never had time to use so it's all boxed up but there are no games or joypads (is that still what they're called?) with it.
Anyone know the best deal around for a couple of pads?
I'm also from the generation of buying physical discs of games but I'm guessing most stuff is downloaded these days?
I've got a PS3 and the boy has currently got an Xbox 360 but their memory capacity isn't big enough to hold full versions of "proper" games (ok for Worms and the like but not Fifa/Halo etc.)
Sorry to sound like a dinosaur (I'm 36!) but I'm a bit out of touch with all this as I'm far too busy with life to play a lot of games at the moment.

One controller should be in the box, as well as HDMI cable and power cable.
Games can be downloaded and bought as a disc, disc is normally cheaper, but then they've got to be downloaded to the console.
Should be able to fit quite a few games on as is, and you can add external hard drives if required.

Well, technically, you also need a gaming monitor with a response rate of 2ms or less, to avoid blurring.
I bought Asus VE248HR 24-Inch LED Monitor for £118 (includes tinny speakers) which has 1ms response.
I hope you got a good price on the X-Box as the new X-Box S is way better and sells for £199, with one controller and two games at John Lewis.

The Venom charging station is fantastic. Works out much cheaper than using AA batteries
I find that the Venom charging packs only last a year or so then start degrading, or at least that was my experience on the Xbox 360. I now use rechargable batteries, I find them much better.Mammasaid said:
Watching this, as I've bought my daughter (honestly) a Xbox bundle with Minecraft for Xmas, and now need to source another controller. I've got a couple on Amazon in my basket to see if they come down a bit from the ~£42 they are currently.
Set up an alert on camelcamel uk. It will also show you the lowest price it’s been. Mr E said:
A tip. Plug it in somewhere and connect it to the interwebs before Christmas.
Let it update so that when he opens it on Christmas Day he doesn’t have to stare at an update screen for a few hours.
Cheers Mr E. A mate of mine has bought one for his lad too and gave me the same tip on Friday so I'll do it when my boy is in bed one night this week. Nothing worse than getting a shiny new toy at Xmas and not being able to use it. Particularly if that means I have to forego my walk to the pub so I can set it up! This....Now £170 everywhere with Black Friday. I would question your mate's intentions if it was hardly used but no controller included. For a second hand non S console only you should only pay 50 quid especially from a friend.
