Hire Car Dispute - Green Motion

If this is the case why do rental? Close down the rental side, stop losing money.
Buy cars in bulk, sell them again for a higher price than they would have done before. Make loads more money.

This ^^^^. I was told this by an Enterprise agent a couple of years ago. They don’t make money on the rental as such.

The manufacturers won't let them sell the vehicles as new. They get massive discounts on the understanding that they keep the vehicle for X amount of time.Buy cars in bulk, sell them again for a higher price than they would have done before. Make loads more money.

Am sure I once read the manufacturers flood the Jersey rental market with cut price superminis, allow them to rack up a few miles, and then bring them to the mainland as approved used cars. Double win
Loads of recorded registrations and a guaranteed second hand pool too

But that's not all it cracked up to be - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Not helping the OP here at all, sorry, but I rent from them (GM) every week - have used Edinburgh Airport, Bristol, Stansted and Luton branches.
Never had an issue with them at all - my last rental cost me £9.00 for 36 hours and that isn't the cheapest I have paid.
I check the car before taking it - record a 360 video, roof, bonnet, all the wheels, door edges, around and under the bumpers, which to be fair, I do with all hire companies.
I bring the car back clean (inside) and so other than a jet wash, it's ready for the next customer.
I do have my own excess insurance, if ever i have to use it with GM for a dodgy claim, it will be the last.

Never had an issue with the enterprise i use, they don't car about alloys or scuffs either, I tried Thrifty and that was a nightmare they check inside and out for any little mark.
