The IPV driver should put the vehicle as per their Ch8 procedures.

But as your emergency closures dont conform to chapter 8 my question still stands.

I'm not trying to be funny about it, I'm just wondering if the confusion is isolated to our area or not.
Our closure is emergency traffic management, if you're coming out to put on a closure to "overlay" ours, it will be a proper Ch8 closure, therefore, the placing of the IPV would be down to the area team driver. To be fair, I've requested reinforcement and IPV many times and never got it. wink

It's for social distancing, it's one officer per vehicle, when you see 2 vehicles together is 2 non single crew trained officers.

Presumably the natural thing to do at this point would be single crew train these officers?
Training is ongoing, however, it's on hold at the moment due to everyone being out solo.

can/should heto be stopping cars with an obviously dangerous defect?

asking as i was overtaken by an car which's rear shock absorbers quite clearly had seen better day, was constantly bouncing and all over the lane.

Two heto cars were just ahead of me on the road and the car bounced past them too.
I've performed a "safety intervention" on a vehicle with no rear lights at night, I informed my control of the location and why I was stopping the vehicle. Luckily on this occasion it was a blown fuse and the driver carried spares, he replaced the fuse, thanked me for letting him know and he continued his journey.

I’m not convinced that having two cars rolling in tandem isn’t still single crewing. They’re working independently of each other until they exit the jeeps. I wonder if those who resisted single crewing training suddenly think it might be a good idea instead....
The reasoning being they still work together at incidents, whereas single crewed officers can do it all by themselves.

Your own safety is paramount, so regardless of whether you're single or double crew trained, if there is the possibility of violence or the situation escalating, we call the police and withdraw to a safe location and monitor.

They both have their own callsign, the job still gets dealt with, to the passing motorist it will look like 2 officers working the same job, does it look ridiculous when you see 2 or 3 police cars at the same job?

Well that all depends what they are doing doesn’t it. ;-)

Don’t get me wrong, i know the frustrations you face all too well. I’m just surprised single crewing hasn’t become the norm yet. Better to have 2 cars of kit than one.
That tends to happen anyway if it's a complex job, 2 single crewers will turn up, both sets of cones and signs can be used.
