Did you swap the plates for legal ones you bought from Halfords this morning ?
Joking aside, I'm glad it's not going anywhere if they're legal.
Now, has your wife 'fessed up yet about what she said to the cop to piss him/ her off so much that she was issued a FPN ?
She hasn't said but I can guess that her attitude didn't pass the test at 8am being pulled over on the motorway for somthing that wasn't wrong in the first place. I think it took her a while to pull over due to the fact that she knew she had done nothing wrong..Joking aside, I'm glad it's not going anywhere if they're legal.

At the risk of being trumped by an amendment that I'm not aware of, the so-called tolerances that supposedly don't exist can be found clearly at section 12(2)(b) of the 2001 Regulations [Statutory Instrument 2001/561]. For stroke width the appropriate tolerance is +/- 0.5mm so the legal requirement is between 13.5 and 14.5mm. Based on your caliper measurements your plates are illegal, and your tape measure photo is by no means conclusive either way.
Given how dodgy your case is, and that it will cost you more if you win, my advice would be to pay up and then send the plates back to the supplier to get them fixed ready for next time SWMBO gets her collar felt.
Er...No. Given how dodgy your case is, and that it will cost you more if you win, my advice would be to pay up and then send the plates back to the supplier to get them fixed ready for next time SWMBO gets her collar felt.
A Police Sergeant has confirmed that they are legal, the plates are staying and hopefully there will be 'Intelligence' showing that they are legal for future stops...

And another police officer says they're not legal. And your own measurements say they're not legal.
Has the FP notice been rescinded?
My measurements were a little out due to the temperature Has the FP notice been rescinded?
when using a tape measure at the Police station with his own eyes, the Sergeant said that they were legal. The picture appears to be illegal due to the angles involved, but by eye in person, they are mm perfect.
Not yet as far as I am aware, I guess the CTO doesn't work on Sundays, or has a backlog but an email has been sent so I await a response.

I honestly can't believe the amount of absolute bellers on this thread.

Suck it up and try and have a little respect for people who dont share your EXACT opinion of life.

It's PH, it's kind of expected, although unwanted with a topping of I don't give a...plus, it's not everyone and some good information has been well received.
Nice garage btw, I wish I could have swapped a few of my old ones for yours. my full list isn't in mine but i bet you have had some others too

That wouldn't happen in Alderley Edge or Wilmslow as most performance cars seem to drive around without a front number plate and seemingley get away with it in broad daylight? It'd be like shooting fish in a barrel if you spend an hour nay day on enforcement.
I'm not fussed too much about spacing of legal fonts as they can still be read with ease. Having no number plate is a different matter.
It was basically Knutsford, so it does happen. I'm not fussed too much about spacing of legal fonts as they can still be read with ease. Having no number plate is a different matter.
It's not initials.
It is one of the first registration marks ever registered in Manchester. My dad grew up on a council estate in Stretford and used to see a RR go past with the plate on as a child. with a lot of hard work, he did well for himself in the motor trade and the car came up for sale and he bought it and kept the reg.

Well done OP right result. Been following the thread and been amazed at the level of vitriol and rudeness aimed in your direction. Little bit of jealousy methinks.
Nice plate, nice car, silly plod.
Here is a picture of my wife's ride complete with its funky little plate which IMO looks great.

If that's a UK plate, I think RA500 knows a policeman who would like a chat. If it's not a UK plate, where is your national identifier?
Either way, make sure that you exit the car using the passenger door furthest from the carriageway - hard shoulders are dangerous places
"leave the vehicle by the left-hand door and ensure your passengers do the same" - extract from Rule 275 of the Highway Code.
Its a Manx plate, different rules. I'm guessing that the poster is in the IOM so doesn't need a MAN stickerEither way, make sure that you exit the car using the passenger door furthest from the carriageway - hard shoulders are dangerous places

Did the taste police not offer a taste awareness course?
Talk about giving Cayenne's a bad name.
it's ok, it'll probably be on a Panamera next, then there will be a field day to be had. Talk about giving Cayenne's a bad name.
it's been on the odd nice car though...
